Project “Improving solidarity, taking imitative to rise up and integrate into community” reviewed

Provincial Association for the Blind, on Oct.31, held a conference to review the five-year implementation of the Project “Improving solidarity-taking initiative to rise up and integrate into community” between 2007 and 2012.

After five-year implementation of the Project, the lives of blind people across the province saw improvement. 100% of cadres of the association were good at the use of Braille; most members of the working age group were given vocational training and employment. The association also joined hands with the Banks for Social Policies at all levels to disburse more than VND3.834bln in loans for 552 members to develop homebased business; 100% of members effectively used loans, helping them stabilize their lives.

Such as part, provincial Association for the Blind and its affiliates mobilized organizations and individuals to build 38 unity houses worth more than VND600mln, upgrade 6 others with a total cost of VND20.5mln; donate 36 saving books worth VND33.5mln and many other essential utensils worth VND100mln. They also mobilized the society to present 31,265 gifts worth VND5.290bln to the blind, 54,690 kg of rice and many other kinds of food worth more than VND1bln; mobilized donors to give regular allowances of more than VND280mln for charity kitchens…
