Project of medical waste treatment should include private establishments

June 13, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung chaired a meeting to listent to report of Department of Health on project of medical waste treatment in Binh Duong Province for the period of 2011-2015 with orientation to 2020.The project is for improving management of hazardous medical waste to guard community health. Under the project, by 2015, all the solid waste and 90% of liquid waste in healthcare sector should be collected from medical premises. As reported by consulting units, by 2015, it is expected that the province would have 5,937 hospital beds, resulting in increment of medical waste to about 364 tons a year.Addressing the meeting, Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung suggested that treatment measures should be practical for all clinic centers including private ones until 2025.
