Promoting business start-up among women

Update: 04-08-2017 | 11:05:48

Promoting business start-up among women is one of major tasks done by provincial Women’s Unions at all levels. Accordingly, they have given strength to economic models by women, supported poor ones to rise up in economic development; upheld women’s advantages in production-business; created favorable conditions for them to make contributions to the local economic development.

A scheme on “Supporting women in business start-up for the period of 2017-2017”  has been approved by the Government so far with the goal of having 35% out of more than 1million enterprises nationwide headed by women.

Along with the scheme, provincial Women’s Union over time strengthened a task of mobilizing and supporting women in business start-up creativity, promoting economic development and reaching sustainable poverty. The whole province had a total of 1,796 female-headed poor households and 1,390 female-headed near-poor ones in the first half of the year. As a result, there were 100% of them given support on capital and techniques in production-business…

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also continued promoting a movement of “women helping each other in economic development” by many forms such as tapping loans from the Bank for Social Policies, People’s Credit Funds…In the first half of 2017, nearly 3,700 well-off women provided more than 2,000 poor ones with nearly VND5.6billion in loan. Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also introduced jobs to more than 2,800 women. Additionally, there were 195 members and children with difficult circumstances getting nearly VND 900million in loan from “economic development support” and “for girls surmounting difficulties” funds.

The Women’s Union branch of Cay San hamlet in Bau Bang district’s Lai Uyen commune was a typical example in realizing “women with mutual help” movements over the past time. The local women used money saved from the “raising piggybank” model to present gifts to poor pupils and donate rice to needy members. The effective operation of loan-rotating groups also assisted women to surmount difficulties and develop home-based business…

Nguyen Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said that provincial Women’s Union has set a motto of “giving poor women the fishing-rod, not the fish” to help them rise up out of poverty and get rich, making contributions to the society by support activities on capital, production techniques, business start-up skills, vocational training…The local Women’s Union now prepares to carry out the “Supporting women in business start-up” scheme for the period of 2017-2020 and kick off a seminar on “Women with business start-up”. When being realized, the scheme will help women not only escape poverty, but also rise up to enrich themselves.
