Binh Duong provincial Council for the Selection of Outstanding Rural Industrial Products (ORIPs) has recently held a meeting to vote on the evaluation results by the judges for the ORIPs nominated from district level.

The meeting was chaired by Nguyen Thanh Toan, Director of provincial Department of Industry and Trade (DoIT) and Vice-Chairman of the Selection Council, with the participation of representatives from departments and sectors in the province.

According to provincial People's Committee’s Plan No. 2436/KH-UBND dated May 25, 2023 and guidelines from provincial DoIT, districts and cities in the province organized district-level selections and nominated products for provincial-level selection. Particularly, Thuan An city nominated 14 products; Ben Cat city nominated 12 products; Tan Uyen city nominated 12 products; Phu Giao district nominated 12 products; Dau Tieng district nominated 12 products; Bau Bang district nominated 11 products and North Tan Uyen district nominated 8 products.

After reviewing the dossiers and merging products with similar features, 76 out of 81 dossiers met criteria for provincial selection. These dossiers were consolidated into 62 products, categorized into four groups: Group A - Handicraft products (10 products from 5 establishments); Group B - Processed agricultural, forestry, aquatic products and food (46 products from 35 establishments); Group C - Mechanical equipment, tools and parts (1 product from 1 establishment); and Group D - Other products (5 products from 5 establishments).

On May 23, 2024, the judges evaluated participating products. As a result, 53 products scored an average of 70 points or higher.

To ensure the structure and quantity in line with the Plan No. 2436/KH-UBND, the judges combined similar products, proposing 41 products to be recognized as provincial ORIPs.

The judges meet to evaluate products participating in the selection

The Selection Council reviewed and approved the judges' scoring results and checked the dossiers of the 62 products. As a result, the Selection Council voted to propose that provincial People's Committee recognize 41 products as provincial ORIPs for 2024.

The Selection Council also recommended specialized teams to finalize dossiers for these products to continue competing at the regional level.

Delegates have a look at ORIPs

At the meeting, Mr. Toan emphasized that the selected products not only reflect the capability and creativity of the local production establishments, but also confirm the quality and strong development potential of rural industrial products.

The ORIP selection program motivates businesses and individuals to improve product quality and give them opportunities to promote and enhance the brand value of the products. Provincial recognition will facilitate access to larger domestic and international markets for these products.

The task of recognizing and honoring 41 ORIPs this time is an important step to help production establishments enhance their reputation, expand their market and contribute to the local economic development.

The Selection Council discusses at the meeting

Mr. Toan called for cooperation and support from agencies, departments and the community. "To enhance the program's effectiveness, close coordination among agencies, departments and the business community is essential. We create the most favorable environment for the continuous development of ORIPs together, contributing to improving the lives and incomes of rural people", Mr. Toan said.
