"The Lac Hong bloodline / Four thousand years / The bright red blood / Flowing in my heart / The Lac Hong lineage / The fairy dragon lineage / The vow to hug / The motherland for many generations ...". The lyrics of the song "Lac Hong blood stream" composed by musician Le Quang have aroused in every Vietnamese person the emotion when looking to the origin of the nation. Millions of Vietnamese people, wherever they live, always remember their roots and are proud to be the fairy dragon lineage, descendants of Hung King.
Being proud of the fairy dragon tradition
Towards the death anniversary of Hung Kings, millions of Vietnamese hearts are eager to return to their roots with proud feelings. For many people, right from childhood, legends about the Hung kings who built and defended the country have always been memorized through stories from teachers, grandparents, parents...
Officials and employees of Di An city’s Center for Culture, Information and Sports are completing preparation work for the thematic exhibition on "Hung King's dynasty through photos and objects"
Pham Thi Quynh Tram, a student at Hoa Phu secondary school in Thu Dau Mot city said that through adult stories and documentaries, she has become more and more interested in history. Among the stories about 18 Hung Kings, I like the story of Lac Long Quan and Au Co giving birth to one hundred eggs hatching one hundred children, the legends of Thanh Giong (Saint Giong), watermelon, banh chung - banh day, Son Tinh - Thuy Tinh... This is because from these stories, generations of Vietnamese people have forged national spiritual values, expanding the territory of Vietnam, fighting against foreign invaders to protect the country, bringing usa peaceful life at present.
Quynh Tram's passion for history helped her win the first prize in the Young Historians Contest 2021. Along with Quynh Tram, thousands of students from primary and secondary schools across the province had the opportunity to understand more about the nation's history through participating in the contest. In addition to the provincial-level playground, districts, towns and cities also organized many activities to learn about history, helping students inculcate knowledge and values from history as Uncle Ho’s teachings: "Our people must know our history / For thoroughly understanding the origin of Vietnam".
Praising Vietnamese history
Being immersed in cultural programs, contests, concerts, and festivals, we all acknowledged the respect for the history of participating units. Each program was elaborately set up with many meaningful messages. That is the pride of the nation's history, the history of "Lac Hong" and the Vietnamese revolutionary tradition; thereby arousing passionate patriotism in each person, igniting the fire of enthusiasm, being ready to study, train, strive and dedicate to the cause of building up an more and more prosperous, beautiful and civilized country“to be well-matched with the powerful countries of the five continents"...
Familiar songs such as "Lac Hong bloodstream", "Au Lac lullaby", "People of the South", "Land of lullaby"… were set up elaborately. With heroic lyrics, powerful dances, the image of Lac Long Quan and Au Co with their children going up to the forest and down to the sea to build up the sacred land of Vietnam, made viewers overflow with emotion.
With the sense of "when drinking water, remember the source", right from the 13th to the 14th centuries, our people built temples to worship the Hung Kings. Up to now, the complex of Hung Kings Temple Historic Site has been ranked as a special national historical - cultural relic. In 2012, the “Hung King worship” ritual in Phu Tho province was recognized as the representative intangible heritage of humanity.
Also with the spirit of "when drinking water, remember the source", many places in the province have also organized meaningful cultural and artistic activities to mark the Hung King's death anniversary. Noticeably, a ceremony to mark the Hung Kings’death anniversary will be held at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted. It is expected that the ceremony will be organized solemnly with many traditional rituals such as offering incense, flowers, lamps, “banh chung” (square sticky rice cake)...to the altar of the National Ancestor Hung King, performing art activities in gratitude to the Hung kings and forebears who had great merits in the fight against foreign invaders for national construction and defense. On this occasion, Di An city’s Traditional House also organizes a thematic exhibition on "Hung King's dynasty through photos and objects". In addition, ceremonies to mark the Hung Kings’death anniversary are held to demonstrate the principle of "when drinking water, remember the source" in some communal houses, affirming the local efforts in conservation.
