Province facilitates strong development of high-quality commerce, services

 For sustainable development, Binh Duong is concentrating efforts on developing high-quality service industries, meeting the requirements of industrial and urban development, aiming at civilization and modernity. As realizing this goal, the province has implemented many solutions, mobilized total resources to invest in the transport infrastructure system, attached importance to the development of high-quality commerce and services combined with industrial and urban growth, improving the quality of human resources.

Many good results

According to the draft preliminary report of Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, after two years implementing Program No. 20-Ctr/TU, the quality of services, such as logistics, telecommunications, banking, import and export etc. is improved; water supply, drainage, transportation, electricity supply and housing have developed quite synchronously, culture - society, science - technology sectors continue to grow.

As a result, by the end of 2022, the proportion of the service industry accounted for 22.8% of the economic structure (increasing by 0.3% compared to 2021), contributing to the economic restructuring in the right direction. The average growth of the service sector was 6.89%/year, making an important contribution to stimulating the province's economic growth to an average of 5.47%/year. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services increased by an average of 9.9% per year. In which, the total retail sales of goods accounted for about 69.33%. Logistics services have good changes, forming a relatively complete system of logistics service centers, providing 3PL and 4PL logistics services...

The province is developing a smart medical project, currently 17.2% of hospitals in the province have registered for medical examination and treatment through ICT applications. The number of hospital beds reached 19.7 and the number of doctors reached 7.51 doctors per ten thousand people. Creating jobs for 52,697 employees, the rate of trained workers reached 82%, trained workers with diplomas only reached 32%.

According to Nguyen Truong Thi, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, the Department developed a specific plan under the direction of Provincial People's Committee and Provincial Party Committee to focus on high-quality service industries, meeting requirements for industrial and urban development in the direction of civilization and modernity. Accordingly, the proportion of services in the economic structure continues to shift in the right direction, striving to account for 28% by 2025, the average annual added value of service industry is about 11%... The Department concentrates resources on developing high-quality service industries in some sectors of modern commerce, logistics, industrial support services, etc., contributing to leading and supporting the development of industry, urban areas, innovating new growth model, improve competitiveness, and develop the local economy in a sustainable and comprehensive manner in all fields.

Development in the right direction

According to Trinh Hoang Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Planning and Investment, along with industry, urban development, trade and service of the province are having good changes. The focus on investment in urban infrastructure and important services tied to smart city development meets increasing needs of the population. Some high-quality and potential service industries are gradually forming and developing. Banking and finance, logistics, e-commerce, housing, import and export, health care, education, information technology continue to have strong growth and improve quality.

Currently, Binh Duong New City has been playing a good role as a nucleus in balanced economic development in order to narrow the gap in the proportion between industry and commerce service in the province's economic structure on the basis of services and how Binh Duong connects to the world. National and international events were well organized, along with the concentration of investment resources in core technical infrastructure projects, which brought into play the spillover effect, meeting the needs of investors in new fields in industrial development and high-quality services, contributing to attracting investment, promoting industrial production, and improving the material and spiritual living standards of the population.

Binh Duong is making efforts to speed up the process of socio-economic recovery and development, promoting growth based on digital transformation and digital economy, accelerating the construction of a synchronous infrastructure, focus on administrative reform, improving the business investment environment. In particular, Binh Duong New City will be the center to connect subdivisions in the innovation region as well as connect with provinces and cities, promoting the development of high-quality commerce and service.  

 In the Program No. 20-CTr/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on developing high-quality service industries to meet the requirements of industrial and urban development in the direction of civilization and modernity, Binh Duong has given the orientation for period 2025-2030, vision to 2045. Accordingly, Binh Duong continues to be a model locality of knowledge economy development with a system of high-class commercial centers, modern financial centers, logistics centers, technology science services and innovation of the region, social security services meet the needs of the locality and the southern key economic region. The service industry is modernized with a balanced and reasonable structure, a synchronous and professional distribution system, both expanding in scale and scope, and deeply participating in production development and consumption.
