Province further beefs up education on FFP

Update: 12-04-2010 | 00:00:00

It is currently at the peak of the dry season, so the risk of fire will occur anytime. Binh Duong Daily had an interview with Senior lieutenant colonel Vu Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of provincial Policy Agency’s Anti-Fire Police Division about the province’s fire fighting and prevention (FFP) work in 2010.

How has the province’s FFP work in 2010 been implemented?

Since early this year, provincial Anti-Fire Police Division has taken measures to ensure FFP safety. Particularly, we have given localities advice about the FFP work; had close cooperation with relevant units to timely discover, prevent and deal with infringements on FFP to minimize fire cases; boosted the dissemination work on FFP regulations among all people, contributing to raising public awareness of the FFP work.

What about anti-fire equipment?

The province’s anti-fire devices have been gradually modernizing. They can now meet requirements from fire cases across the province, but with long-term vision, they need to have more investment in line with the development of the province.

Many streets in the province are under the lack of hydrants, hindering efforts by firefighters to put out fires. In the coming time, provincial Anti-Fire Police Division will team up with Binh Duong Water Supply, Drainage and Environment One-Member Co.Ltd. to solve this issue.

How has the province’s inspection on fire-explosion prevention been carried out?

Since 2009, the whole province has carried out 5,861 inspections on fire and explosion prevention at trading-production establishments. A total fine of more than VND1.6bln was imposed on the wrong establishments. But, since early this year, there have been 30 fire cases reported in the province, killing 7 people and causing losses of over VND17.5bln…

Which places are now at high risk of fire?

Industrial parks, markets, trade centers, residential areas, lodging facilities…are places at high risk of fire.

Since early this year, we have paid attention to disseminating and inspecting the FFP work at these above places while working harder on guiding them how to ensure FFP safety.
