Province further enjoys decline on traffic accidents in all three criteria

In the first half of 2016, there were 10,227 traffic accidents reported in the country, killing 4,362 people and wounding 8,939 others, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of traffic accidents dropped by 952 while the number of deaths and injuries also plummeted by 116  and 1,213,  respectively.

Binh Duong has continued maintaining the local traffic safety and order. Since early this year, 833 traffic accidents have happened in the province, killing 170 people, injuring 821 others and damaging 1,219 various vehicles. In comparison with the same period last year, the number of cases fell by 320, the deaths declined by 1, and the number of injured people dropped by 33.

Speaking at the national online conference on reviewing the traffic safety work for the first half of 2016 held yesterday, June 28, Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Traffic Safety Committee urged ministries, sectors, mass organizations and localities to drastically implement main tasks, including further tightening control over transportation business and overloading; strengthening propaganda work and penalizing infringements on alcohol levels for drivers in the 2015-2020 period…to reach a target of reducing by 5%-10% in the number  of accidents, fatalities and injuries.
