Binh Duong has been actively developing the ecosystem of innovation and science and technology, building industrial parks, green, smart and sustainable cities, combined with science and technology to attract industries with high added value.

In 2022, the province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 8.29% compared to 2021, maintaining a trade surplus of nearly 10 billion USD. In addition, Binh Duong also maintains its position as a locality with strong industrial growth and foreign investment attraction, earns the trust of large multinational corporations, such as: Lego, Mitsubishi, Aeon, Tokyu... This is the driving force for Binh Duong to continue accompanying the industrial business ecosystem, promoting development and growth under the province's strategic innovation programs.

At the same time, Binh Duong has actively developed bilateral cooperation and expanded multilateral cooperation. Up to now, Binh Duong province has established bilateral cooperation relationships with 10 foreign provinces and cities and is an official member and a reliable partner of many multilateral international cooperation organizations, including: World Technopolis Association (WTA), Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), Asian Horasis, and World Trade Center Association (WTCA).

Continuously for five years from 2019-2023, Binh Duong was honored by ICF as one of 21 cities and regions with a model smart city development strategy of the world (SMART 21). Recently, on June 21, for the third time in a row, ICF honored the Binh Duong Smart City Development Strategy as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities of the world.

Tran Trong Tuyen, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Science and Technology, said that the development of an innovation ecosystem has received special attention from Binh Duong in recent years with the goal of developing Binh Duong Smart City in the future. Currently, the province is striving for smart production zones and innovation zones - these are considered as concrete and breakthrough steps in building an intelligent city. To achieve the set goals, the province developed a specific development plan and strategy for this region on the basis of the Triple Helix model including the participation of the State, academia, businesses, support and encourage the commercialization of research results, development of innovations, practical tests. In addition, the province has been implementing strategic programs in line with sustainable development goals, such as enhancing the use of clean energy, renewable energy, applying technology into production...

Innovation to stimulate growth

In its development strategy, the province continues to implement the project "Binh Duong Smart City in the 2022-2026 period" with integrated planning orientations throughout the province. In particular, the province focuses on training and attracting high-quality human resources, developing science and technology, research and development, building an innovative startup ecosystem, increasing the proportion of services. In particular, the province built the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City (WTC BDNC) to create leverage for the development of trade - services, turning the new city into a trading hub, a place to organize international events and exhibitions. That is the premise for new steps in the increasingly deepening international integration and to create new momentum in the Industry 4.0 context.

At the beginning of March, in Korea, representatives of WTC BDNC and COEX (Korea) signed a strategic cooperation agreement to organize an exhibition of smart factory, automate logistics, and carry out other innovation programs of manufacturing industry in Vietnam, gathering 500 exhibitors and 2,000 booths, the largest ever. The signing of this strategic cooperation agreement marks an important milestone in the development of Vietnam manufacturing industry, contributing to the enhancement of technological capabilities for the manufacturing industry and improving the competitiveness in the international market.

Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Director of WTC BDNC, said: “We are delighted to support the growth of Vietnam manufacturing industry through this partnership agreement. This is an important step to realize our vision of building Binh Duong province into an innovation and technology hub of the manufacturing industry.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum "Binh Duong Innovation in Manufacturing 2023" recently held, Tran Trong Tuyen, Deputy Director of Provincial Department of Science and Technology, said that the province always encourages and creates favorable conditions for businesses to cooperate with international partners to promote innovation and growth of Binh Duong manufacturing industry, serving the goal of accelerating digital economic restructuring by increasing the proportion of industry - services high quality, enhancing the contribution of science, technology and innovation.

Giang Quoc Dung, Deputy General Director of Becamex IDC: Deploying the strategy of smart cities and innovation zones in recent years, Becamex IDC has always accompanied these activities of the province.
