Province reaches and exceeds important targets in 2010

Despite having difficulties, the province’s socio-economic performance achieved positive changes in 2010. This was also the year bearing an important significance in realizing and fulfilling the Resolution of the 8th provincial Party Congress and provincial five-year economic development plan from 2006 to 2010, making a vital premise for the province to further foster in the next years…

 

Reaching and exceeding targets

 

The province’s total GDP in 2010 increased by 14.5% compared to 2009’s same period and exceeded 13% of the set target. GDP per capital was estimated at VND30.1mln, beyond the set target. Budget collection also reached VND19trillion or 119% of the estimate approved by provincial People’s Council, up 34% against 2009’s same period.

 

 

The province’s industrial production value was estimated at over VND105.9bln, up 20.5% compared to 2009. The province also well realized the government’s support policies for businesses; absorbed additional 170 domestic and FDI businesses. Province-based IPs lured additional 20,000 laborers, bringing the total number laborers herein to 285,000. Total revenue of businesses in the local Ips also increased by 22.7% compared to 2009’s same period.

 

Besides, the province’s trade-service and export sectors also reached and exceeded the set targets, contributing to promoting the common development of the province. The province also strengthened control over urban planning, continued to perfect the regional planning and overall planning; regulated the exploration and exploitation of natural resources and environment…

 

Continuing to ensure social welfare

 

Along with economic growth, the province ensured social welfare in 2010. Particularly, the local functional agencies had timely implementation of social welfare policies, including adjusting allowances for those who made contributions to the national revolution…

 

The province also built and upgraded 47 houses; donated tens of saving books and granted health insurance cards for policy beneficiary families; provided free medical check-ups for poor people and awarded scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils; disbursed VND75mln in loan for 6,300 poor households to develop homebased businesses; generated jobs for 57,000 laborers or 126% of the projection. As of late 2010, the ratio of poor households in the province was 1.38%, down by 2.15% compared to early this year.

 

The province’s education-training sector further carried out the programs to raising the quality of learning and teaching and the campaign “Hai khong” (Two Nos)…In the 2009 and 2010 academic year, the ratio of pupils fulfilling primary-school program reached 98.7%, secondary-school graduation 90.65%, high-school graduation 88.29%. The ratio of pupils passing the university or college entrance exams reached 52.1%, up 10.5% against 2009.

 

In terms of health field, the province well realized public healthcare in 2010. So far, 100% of communal health stations have had doctors and there are now 88 out of 91 communal health stations nationally standardized. In 2010, the province also paid more attention to sports activities from provincial to grassroots levels…

 

However, there were still shortcomings for change, including the slow pace of infrastructure works, the increase in prices that has affected the lives of the local people and the operations of businesses, the lack of highly skilled workforce…Provincial People’s Committee also acknowledged the above shortcomings for timely solutions to effectively realize the tasks in the coming time.
