Province’s 9-month socio-economic development further gains stability

Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial NA delegation yesterday chaired the 6th open session of the 10th provincial Party Committee. Attending the session were Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee together with many other leaders.

2016’s targets fulfilled

At the session, Mr.Liem said that the province’s socio-economic performance in the first 9 months of 2016 continued reaching positive changes with some targets fulfilled. Noticeably, the province’s industrial production activities were developed very stably with the index of industrial production up 8.92%. The province also obtained more than VND105.24trillion in total retail sales of commodities and services, up 22.3%....

The province’s total export turnover reached more than US$16.32billon, up 16.2% while import value was more than VND12.88billion, up 16.1%. Total State budget revenue was VND30trillion, up 13% compared to last year’s same period while total State budget expenditure was VND8.5billion, up 11% against last year’s same period. The province also absorbed VND25.3trillion in domestic capital from 3,446 newly-registered projects and 611 existing ones. So far, the province has lured 24,461 domestic projects. Regarding FDI attraction, there were additional 194 newly-registered projects capitalized at more than US$1.01billion and 93 extra ones with US$532million, bringing the total number of FDI projects in the province till now to 2,781 worth US$25.2billion.

Also during the past 9 months, the province’s agricultural sector continued developing stably with a total area for annual cultivation reaching 21,961 hectares plus stability in terms of the consumption market for agricultural products. The province implemented 4 hi-tech agricultural parks with 979 hectares in total; widely multiplied a lot of hi-tech and urban agricultural models among locals and fulfilled documents recognizing Dau Tieng and Tan Uyen as new-style rural localities. Currently, the whole province has a total of 32 communes meeting all 19 criteria of the new rural construction program, 14 and 3 communes meeting 15-18 and 12-14 criteria of the program, respectively.

Social welfare ensured

Over the past 9 months, the province spent nearly VND630billion on taking care of social policy beneficiaries; built and upgraded 16 gratitude houses with a total expense of nearly VND1.6billion; linked with businesses to create jobs for 41,000 laborers; received and dealt with 79,000 documents enjoying social insurance policies…The province also paid attention to education and health fields. In the 2016-2017 academic year, the whole province has a total of 383,202 pupils, up 26,000 compared to last year’s same period, with material facilities built and upgraded methodically.

Mr.Liem assessed that the province’s socio-cultural fields over the past 9 months achieved positive outcomes. Public healthcare was also ensured. Whilst, the local administration apparatus was consolidated with administrative reform well realized and indexes of State administration improved towards locals’ benefits.

However, the province also faced shortcomings pertaining to basic construction, waterlogging, illegal residential areas…Hence, provincial People’s Committee has conducted relevant agencies to more drastically take solutions for the remaining 3 months in order to successfully carry out the set targets.

Striving to fulfill the set targets

To complete 2016’s targets, Mr.Liem put forward 10 main tasks for the remaining 3 months of the year, including asking for sectors, authorities at all levels to drastically implement the Government’s Resolution No.01/NQ-CP dated January 7, 2016, Resolution No.19 and Resolution No.35; attaching special importance to tasks, solutions guiding, directing the realization of socio-economic development plan, improving competitiveness; further organizing dialogues with industries’ associations, helping enterprises remove their difficulties for better development; hastening capital disbursement for key works; setting up a plan on market price stabilization from now till year-end; dealing with tax arrears…

He also asked for sectors, the People’s Committees at all levels to focus on drastically carrying out solutions on socio-economic development for the rest of the year as well as fulfilling criteria on urban development. Relevant agencies also need to bend on resolving queries regarding land, site clearance and compensation; establish a steering board for smart city development; recheck and mobilize all resources for urban development as planned, raise criteria on socio-technical infrastructure, ensuring a roadmap of upgrading Binh Duong into a first-class city.

Such these apart, he required sectors and localities to hasten the process of construction of water drainage projects; urgently set up solutions against waterlogging, enhance the effectiveness of urban order management, take measures on reducing traffic accidents, cracking down on crimes, ensuring social order and safety…
