Binh Duong province in Q1 2014 took good care of policy beneficiaries, poor people and workers. Under the attention of authorities, sectors at all levels and enterprises, the whole province mobilized more than VND278bln from many sources, including VND190bln from State budget, to take care of policy beneficiaries, poor people and workers during the 2014 traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Accordingly, the province built and handed over 5 gratitude houses, 25 great unity, charity houses to needy people with a total expense of VND1.2bln. The province also instructed relevant agencies to make a survey on poor households under the new poverty line to serve the implementation of social welfare policies in the 2014 and 2015 period; extended the Project on giving housing support to revolutionary contributors in 2014, support policies for disabled people.

Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung said: “In Q1 2014, the province’s economy faced difficulties, but authorities and sectors at all levels of the province took good care of policy beneficiaries and needy people. In Q2 2014, they need to further make a survey on poor households under the new poverty line between 2014 and 2015; recheck the implementation of policies for those who have just escaped poverty; instruct relevant agencies to prevent and restrict labor disputes; organize many programs in response to the Action Month for Children 2014.
