Provincial armed forces always take lead on frontline in Covid-19 fight

During the 4th wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the province’s armed forces performed national defense-military tasks while taking the lead on the frontline in the fight against the pandemic. Tens of thousands of cadres, soldiers and militia and self-defense forces were on the frontline against the pandemic all day and night while coordinating with departments, sectors and localities to help provide food and foodstuffs to stabilize people's lives.

Completing "dual tasks"

Colonel Dinh Trong Co, Deputy Commander of provincial Military Command said that during the 4th wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, provincial Military Command focused on directing the local armed forces to actively participate in Covid-19 prevention and control; closely directed the military medical force to coordinate with the local health sector to set up plans and well realize anti-Covid-19 measures at all levels and in accordance with the actual situation of each pandemic level.

Provincial armed forces uphold their core role, taking the lead in Covid-19 prevention and control. Many collectives and individuals were not afraid of difficulties and hardships, always standing side by side with regular troops and local forces to perform their tasks well; actively carried out propaganda, awareness orientation and created consensus in the society. "Implementing the motto of "fighting the pandemic like fighting the enemy" and "people's lives are first and foremost", provincial Party Committee and Military Command have drastically and synchronously implemented anti-Covid-19 measures, preventing the pandemic from spreading to headquarters at all levels; actively participated in pandemic prevention and control in the community, while coordinating to maintain security-order and participate in well ensuring social welfare", said Colonel Dinh Trong Co.

Provincial armed forces closely coordinated with military zone agencies to establish field hospitals for the treatment of Covid-19 patients No. 5B and 5D; promptly solved difficulties at the grassroots level; closely coordinated with strengthened military units and local departments, agencies, and political forces to actively participate in supply activities for the people. Provincial armed forces also implemented plans to handle the situations of disturbances, demonstrations and riots, maintaining strict security and order; coordinated with relevant forces to maintain political security, social order and safety, creating favorable conditions for localities to effectively deploy anti-Covid-19 prevention and control while surveying, establishing and operating 288 isolation areas with 150,000 seats, 33 Covid-19 treatment hospitals with 40,000 beds to receive, isolate and give timely and effective treatment for the local F1 and F0 cases.

All resources mobilized

With determination together with political system and people in the province to effectively control the pandemic, since the 4th wave of Covid-19 pandemic, provincial armed forces have focused on mobilizing on-site logistics and technical resources in the region to ensure Covid-19 prevention and control. Specifically, provincial armed forces ensured 30 refrigerated trucks from 1.9 tons to 5 tons to transport vaccines and medical equipment; 2,219 turns of passenger coaches, preparation of warehouses, yards, means of transport for 2,483 tons of goods, necessities, medical equipment and tools from organizations and individuals... with a total value of nearly VND 1.2trillion to 557,078 households facing difficulties, creating conditions for the province to control and defeat the pandemic.

Colonel Dinh Trong Co added that during the 4th wave of Covid-19 pandemic, the province's armed forces coordinated with relevant departments and agencies to effectively implement the new model of " Team to receive and process information about national defence at the Switchboard 1022 associated with rapid response transport teams”, using 2,231 vehicles to transfer 35,226 Covid-19 patients to medical facilities, bringing cured cases to localities and transporting relief goods to 473 poor households. The military medical force also increased its participation in taking samples for testing, detecting and  "quickly removing" 1.2 million F0 cases from the community; conducted RT-PCR tests for  99,269 samples from 419,400 people; consulting, monitoring, caring for and treating 90,357 Covid-19 patients; participated in vaccination for 987,539 people. Particularly, two 5B and 5D field hospitals have so far received and treated more than 11,000 citizens, cured nearly 11,000 cases, with only 6 deaths.

Also according to Colonel Dinh Trong Co, strongly upholding resources, provincial armed forces mobilized enterprises to support more than VND 11.2 billion, received 785.3 tons of goods and necessities worth more than VND 41.69 trillion; organized the "Programs of 500 gifts, 1,000 gifts, 10,000 gifts and 20,000 gifts" to support people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, provincial armed forces teamed up with departments, sectors, units and localities to organize creative programs, models and ways such as visiting and offering gifts to frontline anti-Covid-19 forces, organizing "Online zero dong” market-days, " rice ATMs”…; received, transported 2,483 tons of goods and necessities to people facing difficulties, due to the pandemic...

Provincial armed forces also coordinated with regular troops, and functional sectors to organize 1,640 checkpoints with 7,473 participating officers and soldiers; organized 232 groups with 2,320 officers and soldiers participating in patrolling to maintain social distancing rules, in association with maintaining security and order in Covid-19 prevention and control.
