Provincial education and training sector prepares positively for new school year

The new school year of 2013-2014 is going to start. Preparations for the new academic year have been completed by schools and units before the opening day.

To preparing for the new school year, pre-schools, primary schools have since summer vacation cooperated with localities and quarters to mobilize children to go to schools. Since July, the schools have started recruiting new students for classes.

In this year, the number of immigrant students continues increasing, especially in industrial localities such as Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An, Di An towns and Ben Cat district. Pressure on increasing students makes schools meet difficulties in recruitment. However, by experiences and efforts, the local sector of education and training solves problems drastically, facilitating all pupils’ study. Divisions of Education and Training across localities recruited 100% of pupils completing the primary school program for the sixth grade bloc.

In addition, the provincial department of Education and Training held the sixth grade admissions for talent and English classes.

Annually, before entering the new school year, the provincial sector of education and training plans on recruiting employees to supplement lacked human resources and retired teachers.

This year, the sector needs 2,233 employees and teachers. In the first phase, the provincial department of Education and Training recruited as many as 1,461 people and the department has recruited manpower for the second phase. To improve quality of English teaching, in this year English teachers have to experience an assessment of capacity in line with standards of English teachers. Apart from recruiting new employees, the sector has held many training classes for all teachers and managerial cadres of units and schools.

Meanwhile, Thu Dau Mot city, Tan Uyen district divisions of Education and Training in cooperation with the HCMC University of Education held a training class on professional knowledge for teachers and cadres.

In addition, to cater for the new school year, schools across the province repaired and upgraded material facilities to offer enough seats for the rising number of new pupils. In this year’s new academic season, the entire province has 20 works put into operation and 8 more schools will be completed in the second semester.

Along with building material facilities, the sector in 2013 equips more teaching aids, textbooks and tables and chairs fixed standards with the total expense of VND39,869mil. Nguyen Hong Sang, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training said that implementing the project of improving quality of English teaching at high schools, the department invested teaching facilities for primary and secondary and high schools across the province.

At present, all schools have been equipped material facilities and other equipments in service for English teaching and teaching renovation.

Improving quality and efficiency of teaching

Duong The Phuong, director of the provincial department of Education and Training said that the school year of 2013-2014 is the year implementing the 11th Party Congress’ Resolution, the 9th provincial party committee congress’ resolution and launching action plan for the strategy of educational development of the 2011-2020 period. Based on the foundation, the local sector of education and training has set out this school year’s theme of “renovation, efficiency and sustainable quality”.

With the mentioned important events, the sector determines to turn slogans into concrete actions and set out essential tasks for the new school year.

Expectedly, the province will complete universalization on pre-school education for 5-year old children. In addition, the locality will focus on educating lifestyle, living skill and healthcare for pupils as well as ensuring material facilities for teaching and learning.
