Provincial Farmers’ Association upholds traditions, contributing to homeland construction

Celebrating the 92nd anniversary of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2022) is an opportunity for cadres and members to review the glorious historical tradition of the Vietnamese peasantry and the Vietnam Farmers' Association. Under the leadership of the Party, over the past time, provincial Farmers ‘Associations at all levels made great efforts in upholding traditions and gaining important results in the work of the Association and farmers ‘movement, especially promoted the local sustainable agricultural and rural development.

Glorious tradition

In October 1930, the Party Central Committee approved a resolution on the establishment of the Indochina General Farm Association (the first name of the Vietnamese Farmers’ Association today). The resolution marked an important turning point in the history of the Vietnamese peasantry, the development of farmers’ movements in all aspects at that time.

Along with the task of building up a strong association, provincial Farmers' Associations at all levels also have many activities to take care of their members, contributing to ensuring social welfare

By the end of 1949, the first National Farmers Conference was organized from November 28, 1949 to December 7, 1949 and it agreed to establish the Central National Salvation Farmers ‘Association. Regarding tasks, in response to the call of the Party Central Committee, the Government and President Ho Chi Minh, the people of the whole country united and enthusiastically participated in the implementation of two strategic tasks "resistance" and "construction" at the same time.

On June 25, 1979, the Politburo decided to establish a unified organization of farmers throughout the country with a system from central to grassroots levels, named the Vietnam Collective Farmers' Union. The association was established to widely unite farmers, educate and mobilize them to implement the Party and State’s guidelines and policies, perfect socialist production relations in the North and renovate socialism to agriculture in the South…

On March 1, 1988, the Secretariat of the Party Central Committee issued the Decision No. 42-QD/TW on renaming the Vietnam Collective Farmers' Union to the Vietnam Farmers ‘Association. In order to meet the earnest aspirations of the Vietnamese peasantry and at the request of the Party, Farmers ‘Association, at the meeting on January 17, 1991, the Politburo decided to take October 14, 1930 as the founding date of Vietnam Farmers ‘Association.

Homeland construction

Along with the birth and development of the Vietnam Farmers ‘Association, Binh Duong provincial Farmers ‘Association was soon formed and made great contributions to the cause of national defense and construction... After the great victory in the spring of 1975, reunifying the country, implementing the Party and State's policy of agricultural renovation and development, farmers in Binh Duong, with the tradition of industriousness in labor, heroism in combat, actively engaged in producing and building up a new life.

Entering the renewal period, on the basis of the guidelines and resolutions of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers ‘Association and the local socio-economic development objectives and tasks, provincial Farmers’ Association has propagated, mobilized farmers to well implement guidelines, enthusiastically emulating in production and building up a strong association.

Upholding the glorious revolutionary tradition of the Vietnam Farmers ‘Association, over the past time, provincial Farmers ‘Associations at all levels have been proactive to innovate operational contents and modes. The whole association strived to successfully implement the directions, goals and tasks of the association's work and annual farmers’ movements. With achievements in the process of dedication, construction and growth, over the past 92 years, officers and members of provincial Farmers ‘Association and the association were awarded the certificates of merit, the emulation flags and medals from  the Government, ministries, the Central Committee of Vietnam Farmers ‘Association, provincial People's Committee and authorities at all levels. In 2022, provincial Farmers’ Association was awarded the third-class Labor Medal by the State President.

2022 is the 4th year that provincial Farmers ‘Associations at all levels have continued organizing the implementation of the Resolution of the 7th National Farmers Congress, the Resolution of the 9th provincial Farmers Congress for the 2018-2023 tenure. In the face of the  situation, the Standing Committee of provincial Farmers ‘Association has focused on drastically and flexibly directing farmers ‘associations at all levels to set up specific programs and plans to well perform their tasks.

In addition, provincial Farmers ‘Association has further propagandized to raise officials and members ‘political awareness, grasping the Party’s guidelines, the State’s policies and laws; brought the Party's resolutions to life; well organized patriotic emulation movements among cadres and members, with focus on the movement of "farmers emulate good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably".

Do Ngoc Huy, Chairman of provincial Farmers’ Association said that promoting their traditions, provincial Farmers’ Associations at all levels will try their best to well implement target programs and tasks. They will focus on renovating their operational contents and forms, strengthening grassroots work, actively consolidating forces; build up a contingent of qualified cadres; take care of and protect farmers ‘legitimate interests and rights, deserving to be the core center in emulation movements in agricultural and rural development, contributing to successfully implementing the Resolution of the 11th provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure and the local new-style rural construction cause.
