Provincial General Hospital needs to be added more departments

On November 29th, provincial People’s Committee Chairman Le Thanh Cung presided at the meeting with Vice Chairmen of People’s Committee, and related sectors, agencies to listen to report of provincial General Hospital, Department of Health on difficulties faced by provincial health sector.According to General Hospital’s Director Mr. Van Quang Tan, the hospital is at the present a second-ranked hospital with 800 sickbeds; is expected to be second-ranked hospital with 1,200 sickbeds in 2014, and become first-ranked hospital in 2015. Therefore, the hospital need to be more invested, renovated its material facilities, added more departments, and supplemented with additional staff. In order to improve quality, meet increasing demands of health checking and treating of people, the hospital proposed that its material facilities will be upgraded; a new treatment zone with 300 sickbeds and some new high-quality medical equipment. According to the Department of Health, provincial level has now: provincial General Hospital with 1,000 sickbeds but in bad conditions, Traditional Medicine Hospital with 150 beds, and Nursing – Rehabilitation Hospital with 100 beds.Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Cung called for related sectors, agencies to pay more attention to speeding up the construction of the new 300-sickbed treatment zone at the General Hospital; the provincial General Hospital to offer more services to satisfy increasing people’s demands, as well as open additional departments, like: cardiovascular, artificial kidney, etc. Mr. Cung also asked health sector to strengthen preventing, fighting epidemic diseases in cold season.Reported by H.Thuan – Translated by Ngoc Huynh
