Early June 9, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee had a courtesy meeting with Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti, Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Vietnam in research of the province’s macroeconomic development overview, administrative reform work as well as sharing with the province about the EU's green strategy.

At the reception, Mr. Dung said that Binh Duong province has always been evaluated as one of the country’s top localities in terms of socio-economic development and FDI attraction. The province’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) has always achieved a fairly high growth rate in comparison with the average growth rate of the whole country. The province’s economic structure has shifted towards gradually increasing the proportion of services and industry.
As of May 31, 2022, the province attracted 4,049 FDI projects from 65 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of US$39.5 billion. The whole province has so far lured 403 investment projects from 24 European countries and territories with a total registered capital of more than US$ 6.77 billion.
Mr. Dung wanted that the Ambassador will be an active bridge to further promote cooperation relations between Vietnam – the EU in general and Binh Duong – the EU in particular; research and support Binh Duong to organize investment promotion programs in order to attract more EU enterprises to make investment in Binh Duong in the coming time. He also wanted the EU to support technology transfer, especially green technology, clean industry, environmental protection technology... and especially call for many EU businesses to invest in the local science and technology industrial park on the basis of industry 4.0.
Ambassador Pier Giorgio Aliberti expressed his impression at the rapid change of Binh Duong. He said the EU's priorities in the upcoming cooperation are to improve energy efficiency, increase the use of renewable energy, develop green economy and green growth. Through specific information from provincial leaders, the Ambassador affirmed that these are important documents that suggest lots of potential cooperation between the EU and Binh Duong in the coming time while also being consistent with the EU’s development priorities in the future.
In his position, Mr. Giorgio Aliberti committed to continue being a bridge, connecting cooperation between the EU and Vietnam in general and the EU and Binh Duong in particular. The EU will always accompany Binh Duong during the local development process through specific and practical projects in the coming time.
