Provincial Party Committee Secretary "promotes" the progress of key projects in Thuan An

Working with Thuan An city’s Party Standing Committee yesterday morning (March 8), comrade Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation welcomed and praised results done by the Party Committee, government and people of Thuan An city in 2023 and the first 2 months of 2024. Provincial Party Committee Secretary said that in 2024, the general situation is forecasted to be very difficult, demanding that the city needs to further make more efforts, focusing on removing bottlenecks, clearing resources, speeding up the progress of the local key projects..., contributing to successfully completing assigned tasks.

Many optimistic signals

Reporting to the delegation, comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam, Vice-Secretary of Thuan An city’s Party Committee, Chairman of Thuan An city’s People's Committee said that in the first 2 months of 2024, the city’s Party Committee focused on implementing resolutions on socio-economic development, national defense, security-Party building and achieved a number of positive and quite comprehensive results in all fields. The city’s economic situation developed stably. The city’s State budget collection was over VND 1.7 trillion, reaching more than 20% of the estimate assigned by the province and the resolution passed by the People's Council.

The city concentrated on taking care of revolutionary contributors and social policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2024 with over VND 23.2 billion. In addition, the city was interested in building up a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle, creating a clear change. The city’s administrative reform and digital transformation made many remarkable efforts. Particularly, the city made efforts in overcoming technical shortcomings in 2023 to bring a set of index 766 from the bottom position to the second one in the province with nearly 90 points. The city will be determined to strive to maintain the top ranking in the coming time. In addition, the city has deployed over 13,000 digital signatures for people and nearly 9,000 digital signatures for businesses to carry out administrative procedures and electronic transactions. The city currently has 6 out of 10 communes and wards launching non-cash payments.

Along with socio-economic development tasks, Thuan An city has strengthened Party and political system building, especially the work of adjusting and supplementing cadre planning; implemented the resolutions of conferences of the 13th Party Central Committee; directed the organization of the Fatherland Front congress and Youth Union Congress at the grassroots level towards the city-level congress for the 2024-2029 tenure.

Progress of key projects accelerated

A report by Thuan An city’s Party Standing Committee said that the implementation of key projects, especially ones of the Government and the province passing through the city such as National Highway 13, belt road 3 of Ho Chi Minh city... is always of interest to the city. At the compensation project to upgrade National Highway 13, the city has so far approved compensation and support for 487 out of 488 households and 49 out of 53 organizations with an amount of over VND 2.77 trillion, reaching 99%. So far, the city has paid compensation and support to 441 households and 20 organizations with an amount of over VND 2.4trillion, equal to 87% of the total compensation and support amount. There are 46 households and 29 organizations with an amount of over 361 billion VND that have not yet been paid (including 5 organizations that have not received money, but have handed over the sites). The city is continuing paying and handing over the sites for construction. At the Ho Chi Minh City belt road 3 project, the city has paid over VND 3.19 trillion for 1,200 documents, reaching 88.6% of the approved budget. It is expected that in the second quarter of 2024, the city will complete the compensation work.

At the working session, leaders of the city proposed to resolve difficulties related to extending the land use period of enterprises; a project to upgrade roads along the Saigon River and a number of public investment projects in the city.

Speaking at the working session, comrade Nguyen Van Loi praised results done by the Party Committee, government and people of Thuan An city in 2023 and the first 2 months of 2024. Noticeably, the city reached considerable results in State budget collection, disbursement of public investment capital, administrative reform, Tet care for people, military assignments, Party member admission and adjustment and supplement of cadre planning carried out methodically; activities of the Fatherland Front and mass organizations towards grassroots level with quality and efficiency...Provincial Party Committee Secretary emphasized that 2024 is forecasted to be very difficult, so the city needs to further make more efforts in successfully completing assigned tasks.

Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, comrade Nguyen Van Loi requested the city to be more drastic in compensation and site clearance for projects upgrading National Highway 13 and belt road 3 of Ho Chi Minh city and a number of the local public investment projects. Reiterating the guiding spirit of the Prime Minister: "Overcome the sun, overcome the rain", "3 shifts, 4 crews", "work day, work night"..., provincial Party Secretary requested Thuan An city and relevant units to continue coordinating more closely, quickly removing difficulties, clearing bottlenecks, and completing clearance and compensation work at two projects of Ho Chi Minh city belt road 3 and National Highway 13 in March 2024.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Loi also requested Thuan An city to well organize resettlement for households fully affected by projects with the motto of "getting a living standard equal to or better than the old place" while properly and fully implementing policies to support people's lives and livelihoods.
