Provincial People's Council approves projects on expressway, belt road 4 with inter-regional connectivity

Early May 18, the 10th provincial People's Council held its 9th symposium, in attendance of Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments, agencies, sectors, provincial People's Council and National Assembly deputies.

At the symposium, Mr. Loc was elected as Chairman of provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 tenure, with the number of votes reaching 91.18%. The symposim also voted to dismiss the position of the members of provincial People's Committee for Nguyen Tam Duong, former Chief of provincial People's Committee Office and Colonel Trinh Ngoc Quyen, former Director of provincial Police Agency. Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen was dismissed from the position of Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of provincial People's Council. The delegates also voted to elect additional members of provincial People's Committee; Head, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the 10th provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 tenure. As a result, Vo Anh Tuan, Chief of provincial People's Committee Office; Colonel Ta Van Dep, Director of provincial Police Agency and Ha Thanh, Director of provincial Department of Foreign Affairs were elected as members of the 10th provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term. Nguyen Thi Thao Nguyen was elected as Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Committee of the 10th provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 tenure. Nguyen Khoa Dieu An was elected as Deputy Head of the Culture - Social Affairs Committee of the 10th provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 tenure.

The symposium also approved many important reports and resolutions, affecting the local socio-economic development process. Specifically, it agreed to propose the implementation of the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh expressway project and the investment policy of the belt road 4. The Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh expressway at the section going through Binh Duong province is invested in 2 phases. The phase 1 from Khanh Van bridge to the boundary of Binh Duong - Binh Phuoc provinces with about 45.6km long and 4 lanes. Particularly, the section from the belt road 3 to Khanh Van bridge remains in its original state, which has been invested under DT743 and DT747B projects. The phase 2 invests in a completed expressway with a scale of 6 lanes from the bet road 3 to the boundary of Binh Duong - Binh Phuoc provinces. The Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway at the section through Binh Duong province has total estimated investment of more than VND16.19 trillion.

The belt road project in Ho Chi Minh city, with the section from Thu Bien bridge - Saigon River (phase 1), has the starting point at the point where the belt road 4 connects Ho Chi Minh city with Thu Bien bridge in North Tan Uyen district’s Thuong Tan commune and the end point of the route at Phu Thuan bridge in Ben Cat town’s An Tay commune with a total length of about 47.85km, designed speed of 100km/h. The project is expected to be implemented from 2023 to 2026 with total estimated investment of more than VND 18.24trillion.

Speaking at the symposium, Mr.Loi requested provincial People's Committee, departments, sectors, districts, towns and cities to focus on speeding up the progress of the local key transport projects; strive to complete a project on upgrading and expansion National Highway 13 by the end of 2023. The projects on the belt roads 3, 4 and the Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh expressway need to be started for construction in June, at the end of 2023 and in early 2024, respectively…
