Provincial Red Cross Society today, May 6, organizes a ceremony to mark the 147th anniversary of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8) and the 2nd  conference on highlighting outstanding individuals in the last five years. This is also a chance for the society to evaluate its emulation movements in the last five years.

Social aid

Over the past five years, provincial Red Cross Society and its affiliates made efforts in mobilizing organizations and donors to offer help to the needy.

The program “Tet for the poor, the disabled and Agent Orange victims” was one of the programs with great humanity regularly implemented by the society over the past time. Other charity program “compassionate clothes” was also actively responded by the affiliates of provincial Red Cross Society. More than 69,000 tons of clothes were raised to natural calamity-hit people in the central and Central Highlands regions and the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang.

Under the support of organizations and individuals, provincial Red Cross Society also built and handed over 451 houses of compassion and upgraded 65 others for poor households with a total expense of approximately VND5bln.

Such these apart, provincial Red Cross Society and its affiliates continued to promote the movement of “Helping each other develop homebased business” via many forms. Ben Cat district’s Red Cross Society was among the role-models of the movement…

In response to the campaign “Each organization, each individual helps one humanitarian address”, since 2008, provincial Red Cross Society has mobilized VND36.149bln to help 344,950 needy people.

Public healthcare

Provincial Red Cross Society and its affiliates now have 665 first-aid stations and 105 first-aid motorbike groups. In the last five years, they provided first aid to 46,179 people, got involved in making environmental hygiene…

Also during the time, provincial Red Cross Society and its affiliates mobilized the local people to give nearly 6,800 liters of blood; mobilized organizations and individuals to provide free medical check-ups, heart and cataract surgeries…for 727,452 poor people with a total expense of more than VND14bln; mobilized over VND1.5bln to make 252,224 meals for poor patients across the province.
