Provincial Scientific Council checks, takes over provincial sci-tech project

On the afternoon of October 28, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial School of Politics and Chairman of provincial Scientific Council, chaired a meeting to check and take over provincial-level science and technology (sci-tech) project titled “Solutions for preventing and responding to economic security threats, contributing to the local sustainable economic development and recovery”.

The project, led by the Institute of Non-Traditional Security under the School of Management and Business, Vietnam National University-Hanoi was directed by Lieutenant General, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Yem.

The project aims at identifying current and potential economic threats in the province, assess the current situation; forecasting and proposing the development of plans, scenarios for prevention and response to economic security challenges and threats to support the local socio-economic development in the coming period.

The research team clarified the state of economic security in Binh Duong, focusing on such fields as preventing and responding to risks of deviating from socialist orientation in economic development and avoiding the middle-income trap in the province; preventing and addressing risks of labor shortages and supply chain disruptions within local enterprises; safeguarding the security of businesses, industrial parks and foreign investment...The team also proposed three general solutions and nine specific solutions.

Speaking at the acceptance session, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Thao emphasized that the project has met practical requirements and opened up new research directions such as making studies on digital economic security, green economy, circular economy and implementing clusters of scientific and technological tasks. The project has contributed to advancing theoretical frameworks on security and sustainable development at both national and local levels, supporting the 40-year review of the Party’s renewal process.

Practically, the project has provided guidance to provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, departments and agencies in directing economic development in conjunction with national defense and security in general and ensuring economic security in particular, in preparation for the 12th provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 tenure.

At the evaluation session, provincial Scientific Council approved the project.
