Provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients connects resources to support disadvantaged groups

To care for disadvantaged individuals during the 2025 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients, along with all-level authorities, sectors and socio-political organizations within the province, has actively mobilized resources to opportunely deliver Tet gifts to those in need.

Warm Tet gifts

Suffering a workplace accident about eight years ago, Vo Thanh Tuan from Thuan An city’s An Thanh ward has since lost his ability to work to support himself and his family. Despite being nearly 70 years old, his father still works as a laborer to take care of the family’s daily needs.

Life is difficult, so for Tuan, every bit of support is immensely valuable. Upon receiving a Tet gift from provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients, including VND 1.1 million in cash and a gift worth VND 200,000, Tuan shared:  “This money will allow me to purchase a few essential items for my  family to celebrate Tet”.

As one of students with difficult circumstances who received a Tet gift from provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients, Tran Thi Truc Vy, an eighth-grade student at Nguyen Quoc Phu Secondary School in Tan Uyen city shared that her family’s situation is extremely challenging. Vy's mother has to take care of the family alone and work to raise her four school-age children. “Receiving Tet gifts this time, I am very happy because my aunts and uncles care about me. This Tet, my family will be happier. My mother also relieved some of the hardship of taking care of Tet for us”, Vy said emotionally.

Receiving a Tet gift on behalf of her grandson, Nguyen Thi Thuong, 73, from North Tan Uyen district’s Tan My Commune said that over the past few years, her son has been working as a car driver alone to raise 3 children, facing significant financial difficulties. "Seeing my grandson’s family in difficult circumstances, the school and local authorities have been very supportive, ensuring that he always receives a share of any assistance. Coming here to receive the Tet gift on his behalf, I feel deeply touched and grateful. I am very thankful and happy that my grandson is being cared for by the community", Mrs. Thuong expressed.

Practical support

In 2024, provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients organized and coordinated with units to implement support activities for 5,649 individuals, with a total cost of over VND 3.2 billion. These support activities focused on key programs and assistance areas, including supporting five poor patients in the treatment of critical illnesses with a total cost of VND 50 million; donating five wheelchairs and five electric mobility scooters valued at over VND 100 million; awarding 660 scholarships worth VND 960 million; providing 35 bicycles worth over VND 122 million; donating 17 laptops with a total value of over VND 177 million; visiting and giving 770 gift packages with a total value exceeding VND 1.495 billion; offering livelihood and job assistance worth over VND 327 million to 56 cases…

Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh, Chairwoman of provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients shared that for many years, during each Tet, the association has collaborated with provincial Women Entrepreneurs Association and donors to organize a program providing gifts to families of people with disabilities, orphans, poor patients..., aiming at  helping them disadvantaged families enjoy a happier and warmer Tet. This year, the association also received sponsorships to award scholarships to underprivileged students in the province. Specifically, Binh Duong Lottery Company supported 150 scholarships and Tu Tam Fund contributed 175 scholarships, each worth VND 2 million in cash.

On behalf of the asssociation, Mrs. Oanh expressed deep gratitude to the generous contributions of businesses and donors, particularly those who have supported the association during this Tet holiday. These efforts have brought a warm and joyful spring to disadvantaged households. Along with meaningful gifts, scholarships and heartfelt Tet wishes, she hopes that everyone will stay safe, overcome challenge and continue striving for a better life.

Caring for people with disabilities, orphans, poor patient and impoverished individuals on Tet is one of the annual key activities of provincial Sponsoring Association for Disabled People, Orphans and Poor Patients. Upholding the spirit of "mutual support and compassion", the association continues mobilizing resources to bring the warmth of spring to those facing unfortunate circumstances and difficult lives.

With the support of businesses and charitable funds, this year, the association organized a program to distribute 450 Tet gift packages to people with disabilities, orphans, poor patients, the impoverished and victims of Agent Orange/dioxin across the province. Each Tet gift included VND 1.1 million in cash and a gift valued at VND 200,000.
