Provincial sports sector achieves outstanding results

A series of special events of Binh Duong province’s sports sector, including the closing ceremony of the 6th provincial Sports Festival 2022; the ceremony to commend Binh Duong’s outstanding athletes at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and the ceremony to send off provincial sports delegation for the 2022 National Sports Festival took place on the afternoon of June 10.

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Kieu Linh, Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Head of the Representative Agency of the Ministry Office in Ho Chi Minh city.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders presented the certificates of merit together with VND 35 million, VND18 million and VND15 million inbonus to athletes who won gold, silver and bronzes medals at the last SEA Games 31, respectively. At the sports event, the province’s sports delegation had 5 athletes winning gold medals, 8 with silver medals and 1 with bronze medal.

The organizers also presented prizes to teams with high achievements at the 6th provincial Sports Festival 2022. Accordingly, the first place belonged to Thu Dau Mot city’s sports delegation. The sports delegations of Thuan city and Ben Cat town ranked second and third, respectively. In addition, excellent organizations and individuals were awarded the certificates of merit from provincial People's Committee.

The ceremony to send off the province’s sports delegation for the 2022 National Sports Festival to be held by the end of the year in Quang Ninh. At the sports festival, the delegation has set a target of winning 18-20 gold medals.
