78 years since that autumn, under the wise leadership of the Party, our country won great victories of historical significance in fields of politics, economy, culture, society, defense - security, foreign affairs... The great achievements of the country in the past eight decades were attributed partly to the active contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Song Be - Binh Duong province. With breakthrough, creative and appropriate decisions, Binh Duong has unleashed local potential and advantages to become one of the provinces with the highest socio-economic development pace in the country.
Vision and desire for development
Over the years, Binh Duong has always been evaluated as one of the leading localities in the country in terms of socio-economic growth, especially in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). The province's Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) has been at relatively high growth rate compared to the national average growth rate. Provincial economic structure shifted in the right direction by increasing the proportion of industrial production. Up to now, the province has 29 industrial parks with total area of nearly 13,000 hectares, and 12 industrial clusters with an area of over 800 hectares. The province planned to build and develop an Industrial - Urban - Service Complex with a total area of over 4,000 hectares, including high-tech industrial zones, commercial - service zones and new urban areas…
From a solely agriculture-based province, Binh Duong has risen up strongly to become one of the leading localities in the country in terms of economic development and urbanization; is a locality that attracts millions of workers from other places to come here and settle down. An image of Binh Duong dynamic and developing today is easy to see, but not everyone can understand the miracle in socio-economic development in recent years. It is the result of a vision and aspiration of generations of leaders and people under the leadership of the Party Committee, determination to help the province to overcome poverty and build a prosperous and beautiful homeland.
The VSIP model in Binh Duong has been shared and spread to many provinces and cities throughout the country. In photo: Modern urban industrial appearance at VSIP 1 in Thuan An city.
The sixth Party Congress set out a comprehensive reform policy for the country, opening an important turning point in the cause of national construction and defense. The Party's renewal policy helped solve the problem of economic development that the Party Committee and authorities of Song Be - Binh Duong province were worrying about for a long time. Not only timely and flexibly applying innovative guidelines and policies of the Party and State in socio-economic development, Binh Duong also promotes international relations, thereby strengthening cooperation to call for investment; at the same time learns experience to set out the development policy of the province. The establishment of the Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP 1) is the result of the province's early promotion of international relations. Besides, the province always pays attention to administrative reform, mobilizing investment resources for infrastructure development, creating an open investment environment, attracting domestic and foreign investors.
New development ladder
After decades of industrialization, Binh Duong today has achieved many important results, making positive contributions to the general development of the region and the whole country. However, the fourth industrial revolution is taking place strongly, requiring the province's economy in general and the industrial sector in particular to have an appropriate transformation to create new and sustainable breakthroughs.
To achieve the goals in the way ahead, the province has constantly improved the investment environment, enhanced competitiveness, created new strengths to stimulate growth; at the same time, restructured and improved the quality of the industry through the development of an appropriate set of criteria for foreign and domestic investment attraction. On the other hand, the province studied industrial development planning (including existing and new planning) towards high-tech, green, environmental protection, smart, less labor intensive industry. less land-intensive, less energy-intensive, prioritizing the use of clean energy and renewable energy.
One of the bases that open up opportunities for breakthrough development of the province in the coming time is Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW, dated October 7, 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development and national defense and security guarantee in the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045. As soon as the resolution was issued, the province proactively followed up on tasks and solutions to supplement programs and resolutions to realize development goals. In particular, the province focuses on completing key projects connecting regions and inter-regions such as Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4, Ho Chi Minh City - Chon Thanh Expressway; expansion of National Highway 13, An Tay port...
Besides economic development, Binh Duong has also actively widened international cooperation relationships. With the right development orientation and with its own efforts, the province has achieved some very encouraging results and is the first locality of Vietnam to officially become a member of the global Intelligent Community Forum (IFC). Continuously for five years 2019-2023, Binh Duong was honored by ICF as one of the world’s 21 cities with typical intelligent city development strategies - SMART 21. In particular, the province was recognized by ICF to be in the Top 7, as one of the 7 communities with a typical intelligence development strategy in the world for three consecutive years from 2021-2023.
With new aspirations, new motivation and determination of the whole political system, Binh Duong overcomes challenges to successfully realize the set goals, contributing to building a more and more developed, beautiful, civilized homeland, be a smart, worth-living city.
