Continuing to improve the legal system and specify the 2013 Constitution
At the 10th and last session of the 13th National Assembly, deputies adopted 18 laws and 14 resolutions, and debated 8 bills.
Duong Trung Quoc, a deputy for Dong Nai province, shared, “The session focused on fine tuning the legal system and bringing the 2013 Constitution to life. The session ratified important laws relating to human rights including the Law on referendum, the Criminal Code, and the Civil Code.”
Focusing on socio-economic development measures
The National Assembly spent 12 days reviewing last year’s socio-economic performance and discussing a plan for the next 5 years.
Tran Hoang Ngan, a deputy for Ho Chi Minh city, said, “We’re optimistic that economic growth will exceed the target. For the first time in 5 years, this year’s GDP will be around 6.5 %, instead of the 6.2% targeted. Economic reform has obtained good results and laws relating to the economy have proved effective.”
The National Assembly deputies said Vietnam’s short-term tasks are stabilizing the macro-economy and maintaining the pace of economic growth.
They suggested coordinated measures to push ahead with economic and growth model reform, and targeted GDP growth of 6.5% to 7% from 2016 to 2020 and a CPI increase of 5%.
