Research conducted on conservation and development of mangosteen and durian genetic resources

Provincial Department of Science and Technology is applying findings of the research on conservation and development of genetic resources of mangosteen and durian in Binh Duong province. This project has helped scientists and agricultural managers grasp the current status, production and consumption situation in order to orient development. The research selected 5 varieties of mangosteen, including 1 - 2 elite varieties that can be recognized as leading plants, and 6 durian varieties, helping to propagate and produce mangosteen and durian uniformly, contributing to increasing economic efficiency for growers.

In addition, the project has planned suitable areas for planting and developing mangosteen and durian trees. Thereby, the province planed and oriented the development, has support policies, creates specialized production areas and eco-tourism areas.
