Resolution on establishment of Ben Cat city under Binh Duong province approved

On the afternoon of March 19, all members of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee voted to pass resolutions on the establishment of Ben Cat town’s An Dien and An Tay wards and Ben Cat city in Binh Duong province at the 31st session of the NA Standing Committee.

With the spirit of solidarity, high determination, taking advantage of favorable conditions, overcoming difficulties and mobilizing all resources for investment and development, Ben Cat town has achieved brilliant achievements on socio-economic development, national defense - security for many years. The Party Committee, government and people of Ben Cat town have constantly strived to create and build up a civilized, modern and affectionate city.

Proud achievements

During the half way of implementing the Resolution of the 12th local Party Congress for the 2020-2025 tenure, Ben Cat town has the annual economic growth rate of 10.9%. The reasonable economic restructuring of the locality has led to encouraging results. Particularly, up to now, the proportions of industrial manufacture, services and agricultural production have reached 72.4%, 27.3% and 0.3%, respectively.

Ben Cat town invests in modern, environmentally friendly urban development

The industrial sector continued being the spearheading one with a total production value of more than VND 437.24 trillion, an average increase of 16.1%/year. The occupancy rate of industrial parks reached 90.31% of total. During the past half term, the town attracted additional 1,193 investment projects, including 799 FDI projects. Currently, Ben Cat town is home to 8 industrial parks with a total area of ​​4,030 hectares, 1 concentrated production area with 47.7 hectares, 5,985 investment projects, including 5,186 domestic investment projects with total capital of more than VND 54.89 trillion and 799 FDI projects with total capital of more than US$9.28 billion.

The local sector of trade and services economy has had positive changes with total retail sales revenue of goods and services reaching more than VND 152.56 trillion, an average increase of 26.8%/year. Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of Ben Cat town’s People's Committee shared that the results of trade and services have seen outstanding growth. The town is now home to 11 markets, 1 supermarket, a night market and a walking street, well serving people’s needs for shopping and entertainment. Up to now, the town has proposed a plan to develop a network of markets, supermarkets and commercial centers, focusing on calling for investment under the plan.

Ben Cat town's traffic infrastructure system is connected in a convenient and synchronous way

Although the local economy has shifted towards increasing the proportion of industry, trade and services, the town's agricultural and rural sector has continued developing stably, with a total value of agricultural production reaching more than VND 1.81 trillion, an average increase of 5%/year during the half way of implementing the resolution. Notably, Ben Cat has completed criteria on advanced new-style rural construction.

Connected traffic, civilized urban area

Nguyen Trong An, Chairman of Ben Cat town’s People's Committee added that after nearly 3 years of implementing the Project No. 01-DA/TU dated November 3, 2020 on "Improving the quality of urban development in Ben Cat town in the period of 2020-2025 and the following years" has basically completed tasks and targets under the set roadmap. The town has effectively tapped investment resources to achieve criteria of a second-class city, upgrading 2 communes of An Dien and An Tay into wards, upgrading Ben Cat town into a city under the management of the province.

Over the past time, with the investment the province, Ben Cat town had a strongly developed traffic system, connecting smoothly and synchronously with key routes passing through the area, creating favorable conditions for the town to easily connect with industrial parks and urban areas in the south of the province, connecting with Ho Chi Minh city, Binh Phuoc province and the Central Highlands provinces.

The town has always paid special importance to public investment, contributing to creating development forces, with total investment capital of more than VND 2.5trillion. After the half way of implementing the resolution, the figure was estimated at more than VND 1 trillion. The town’s total State budget revenue during the mid-term was more than VND 11.36 trillion, an average annual increase of 9.5%...

Over the past time, along with investment in economic and urban development, the town constantly focused on the construction of cultural institutions and social infrastructure facilties in quantity and quality. The field of education with a network of spacious schools, classrooms plus a constingent of teachers continued being consolidated. The town's medical system was upgraded, with the quality of public health constantly improved.
