In 2022, Thu Dau Mot city marks a 10-year journey of construction and development. During the past 10 years, with a tradition of solidarity and high political determination, the city’s Party, government and people well mobilized internal resources, creating a synergy to take new steps of development that were quite comprehensive, raising the local scale in both position and power. Today, the city is further affirming its role as the political, administrative, economic and cultural hub - the heart of Binh Duong province. This is a very important and basic foundation for the city to develop more firmly in the coming years.

Over the past 10 years, inheriting and promoting the spirit of solidarity, dynamism and creativity, the Party and government of Thu Dau Mot city joined forces to well carry out the local renewal process; directed the removal of obstacles in all fields; further maintained economic growth and well implemented policies on social welfare; improved the executive responsibility, management effectiveness and efficiency of the government apparatus to serve people. Nguyen Thu Cuc, Vice-Secretary of the city’s Party Committee, Chairman of the city’s People's Committee excitedly said that after 10 years of transformation, today, Thu Dau Mot city confidently competes with the central cities of the region and the whole country. Thu Dau Mot is one of the top cities under the provincial management with high State budget revenue, spacious urban appearance and civilized people.

District-level units with many bright spots

Thanks to appropriate policies, the city’s economic structure has shifted in the right direction. Accordingly, by 2021, the city’s economic structure was developed with 60.89% in trade - service industry, 39.07% in industrial manufacture and 0.04% in agriculture. Thu Dau Mot city is a district-level unit leading the Public Administration Reform (PAR) index for 7 consecutive years. The model of the Public Administration Service Center is considered as a model and is being replicated throughout the province. The average income per capita reaches VND 120 million per person per year.

The bright spot of the city over the past time was towards building a green city with over 100 parks and gardens, serving people's entertainment and sports needs. Thu Dau Mot city is also the starting place for many volunteering movements, spreading the fine spirit for the community. Typically, the annual Ba Thien Hau (Lady Thien Hau) Pagoda festival is attached by many tourists to the dear name "Free Festival".

Especially, during the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Thu Dau Mot city mobilized the local political system to take drastic action, speeding up vaccination to create herd immunity and control the pandemic well. Accordingly, many models on F0 treatment at home, lodging facilities, and companies were highly appreciated. The city’s Party Committee, government and people united to successfully control the pandemic, becoming the first unit in the "red zone" of the province to transform into a "green zone" and bringing all activities to the "new normal" state from September 10, 2021.

With the above efforts, the city’s Party Committee was honored to receive the flag of provincial Party Committee for its outstanding achievements for 3 consecutive years from 2019 to 2021. Every year, the city's Party Committee is always recognized by the province for successfully completing its tasks and its mass organizations always lead in the emulation block of 9 districts and towns.

The heart of the province

Nguyen Van Dong, Secretary of Thu Dau Mot city’s Party Committee said that in order to be on par with the position and role of the political, administrative, economic and cultural hub - the heart of Binh Duong province, in the coming time, Thu Dau Mot city will further promote the construction and rectification of the Party and political system; resolutely prevent, repulse and strictly handle cadres and Party members who have degraded in political ideology, morality, lifestyle and had manifestations of "self-evolution", "self-transformation", building up the pure and strong Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the city’s Party Committee and the whole political system of the city, being capable of leading the city to develop better in the coming time.

In addition, the city will have effective solutions to invest in the construction and development of Thu Dau Mot urban area towards a smart and green growth urban area; further develop the local economy under the structure of "services – industrial manufacture and urban agriculture"; foster new urban spaces for diversified development of services and commerce; make synchronous and modern investment in social and technical infrastructure; take science, technology and innovation as the driving force for development; attach special importance to developing a green, smart and sustainable industrial ecosystem. Thu Dau Mot will also be the leading locality in the innovation zone and smart city construction in the province.

The city will also study solutions to mobilize all resources, use many forms of investment to plan the development of culture, education, health and sports commensurate with economic development. Especially, the city will continue more effectively promoting a project on improving the quality of the campaign "Building a civilized urban and cultural lifestyle", building "Citizens with 5 exemplary performances"… in combination with ensuring social welfare to take care of policy beneficiary families, revolutionary contributors, and disadvantaged groups in the society. In addition to economic development, the city will focus on ensuring national defense - security in parallel with strongly promoting the values of Vietnamese people-culture and the creativity of each individual; step by step build up an orderly, disciplined, safe, healthy, democratic, fair and civilized society, ensuring people's peaceful and happy life.

Inheriting the crystallized results from many previous terms, the Party Committee, authorities and people of Thu Dau Mot city today are further building up a civilized, smart, dynamic, modern , prosperous and beautiful city to be worthy of being the central urban area of Binh Duong province.

On May 2, 2012, the Government issued the Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP on the establishment of Thu Dau Mot city on the basis of the entire natural area of 11,866.61 hectares, with 244,277 people and 14 communal administration units. The city also continues holding its role as the political, economic and cultural hub of Binh Duong province.
