Campaign to save electricity

From March 20, Power Company of Binh Duong (PCBD) in collaboration with Department of Industry and Trade and the provincial Youth’s League implemented many activities to respond to Earth Hour 2022 by turning off lights and reducing the use of unnecessary electrical appliances for 1 hour (from 20:30 to 21:30 on March 26), mobilizing people to turn off their cars if they wait for 25 seconds or more at traffic lights on intersections. Members and young volunteers of Thu Dau Mot University organized the cycling on roads with slogans calling on people to save electricity and energy to fight climate change.

Mr. Le Hong Khanh, Head of PCBD Sales Department, said that with the theme of "Fostering Our Future", the power supplying industry continues to call on customers, people and businesses to raise awareness in the field of electricity generation and use energy sparingly and efficiently, especially fossil fuels, to actively reduce the greenhouse effect and climate change in order to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity globally. “Earth Hour 2022 takes place on Saturday night of March 26 from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm. We mobilize people and customers to respond positively by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment in daily life to respond to the campaign. PCBD has also directed its affiliated units to deploy and respond to the extensive Earth Hour 2022  in the province," said Mr. Khanh.

In the past few days, the advocacy and propaganda have been volunteered by a large number of students of Thu Dau Mot University with many exciting activities. The event took place in the context that the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic is still a top priority, according to the record that the propaganda organization of the Earth Hour 2022 is still mixed to propagate people to perform flexible measures to prevent and control epidemics in the new situation.

The spreading message

In the light of Earth Hour 2022, Mr. Thai Kien Thuan, Head of the provincial Youth Movement Committee, Standing Deputy Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Youth Union, said that the Provincial Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union of the province in recent days have also actively called on young people and youth union members to raise awareness in daily life about the economical use of energy to protect the environment and fight climate change. “This is a very meaningful program, thereby mobilizing young people and youth union members to raise awareness of their responsibility together with the community in protecting the environment. At the same time, we mobilize relatives and friends around to use electricity and fuel economically. The small actions of each person will contribute to the cause of environmental protection and climate change resistance," said Mr. Thai Kien Thuan.

Propaganda and encouragement activities for all classes of people to participate in this year's Earth Hour have also attracted the attention of many people, contributing to to limiting agents causing environmental pollution and climate change.

At intersections in the province, the youth union members distributed leaflets conveying messages about energy saving and climate change to many people. Receiving propaganda leaflets from young people, Ms. Le Thi Trang, a resident of Thu Dau Mot city, said that her propaganda and advocacy helped her know the meaning of Earth Hour; by which, she herself will take more active actions in daily life as well as mobilize relatives to turn off unnecessary electrical equipment, turn off the car engine when waiting for a red light at intersections for more than 25 seconds.

The Earth Hour is an initiative of the WorldWide Fund for Nature (WWF) since 2007. To date, 187 countries, territories and billions of people around the world have participated in the response. This year's Earth Hour by the theme of "Fostering Our Future" once again sends a message to organizations, agencies, businesses and people to join hands to save energy, to protect natural resources, and contribute to the protection of the environment towards the goal of sustainable development of the country by practical actions.
