Returning to Thu land meeting musician Lu Nhat Vu

In Binh Duong, there is a musician, who is nearly 90 years old but still loves life and works hard in composing to bring many time-stamped songs to the public. Many people love to call him the father of “Đất Phương Nam” (Southern Land), because this song was in the movie "Southern Land" left a strong impression on the hearts of Vietnamese people for decades.  The person mentioned is musician Lu Nhat Vu.

In the childhood memories of Millennials, the song “Đất Phương Nam” written by Lu Nhat Vu in the movie "Southern Land" left a strong impression and many people knew it by heart. Until learning more about him through many newspapers articles, more and more people admire the talent of a son of Binh Duong, who is also a famous musician with revolutionary songs, because many of their favorite lyrics and memorized songs were written by him.

Musician Lu Nhat Vu (87 years old) was born and grew up in Binh Duong, belongs to the generation of artists who brought their love of music to revolution. His early works include: “Sáng ra công trường” (In the morning working on construction site), “Gửi bạn Algérie” (To you Algerian friends), “Chiếc khăn rằn” (The bandana), “Tưởng nhớ Trần Văn Ơn” (In memory of Tran Van On) … quickly entered the revolutionary movement.

Later songs with folk songs and Southern voices made up Lu Nhat Vu's musical physique, through the war, living forever with the revolutionary journey of Vietnamese youth such as: “Cô gái Sài Gòn đi tải đạn” (Saigon girl to load ammo), “Khúc hát người đi khai hoang” (Song of the colonizer), “Hãy yên lòng mẹ ơi” (Rest in peace, mother) ... And especially, the song of Southern Land born in 1997 (music from the movie "Southern Land") is loved by many people because of its ability to evoke with melodies, rhythms, and echoes of people reclaiming new land, carrying layers of regional cultural significance and the identity of the Southern people.

Having the opportunity to meet him in many music programs of Binh Duong, we appreciate this talented musician even more because his enthusiasm is still very burning. He and his wife (poet Le Giang) have contributed many research works on poetry and music and are still working hard to create many unique literary and artistic works; contributed many enthusiastic ideas to build Binh Duong's literature and art in particular and the whole country in general, which is increasingly rich and imbued with the national cultural identity of Vietnam.
