Sci-tech application in agricultural production promoted

Update: 08-12-2015 | 14:22:55

The development of agricultural sector towards urban and hi-tech models is a right direction of Binh Duong. In fact, the province’s faming area is being shrunk, due to the rapid development of the local urbanization process. Therefore, sci-tech application will help the local farmers generate quality agricultural products with great competition in the current integration process.

Efforts

Between 2011 and 2015, Binh Duong’s agricultural sector has reached strong changes when applying sci-tech advancements into production. There was a strong change in awareness of production methods at market among the local farmers. So far, sci-tech advancements have been widely applied in the local agricultural field.

This is a hi-tech based milk cow facility of Pham Thi No in Dau Tieng district’s Long Tan commune

Provincial Department of Science and Technology (DoST) said that since 2011, the department has organized 9 training courses on sci-tech application for more than 1,210 officials and members of Farmers’ Associations at all levels; guided farmers how to build their trade marks, tend pomelos under the VietGap standards; developed 8 pilot models on cultivation and animal husbandry…There have also been 14 agricultural production models developed in Ben Cat, Thuan An, Tan Uyen towns and Phu Giao, Dau Tieng districts.

Noticeably, the province’s hi-tech based agricultural production is changing very actively. The whole province is now home to nearly 1,000 hectares of farming land with hi-tech application. There are lots of models applying sci-tech advancements with hi-economic efficiency. For example, the model of growing rock melons reaches the annual income of VND400mln per hectare. Or, the model of breeding chickens for eggs with the size of the whole province supplies more than 30 trillion eggs per year, 2.5 million chickens per year for the market…

Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that the local agricultural sector has made great changes in both quality and quantity, due to sci-tech application. Besides of meeting the local demand, the province has supplied agricultural products for southern markets. Some units are also very successful in farm produce export. But now, the province’s sci-tech application in agricultural production has not been implemented on a large scale, due to many reasons.

Sci-tech application on large scale

Born in 1988, Nguyen Thanh Hung in Thuan An town’s Hung Dinh ward is very successful with the model of growing rock melons. He is now the owner of a rock melon garden of more than 1,000 square meters with the annual income of VND80mln.

To achieve the above result, he came to Thailand, Malaysia…to learn about technologies to develop this model. He is seen as representative of a new farmer generation daring make efforts for sustainable and modern agriculture.

The province has also promulgated many preferential policies for businesses making investment in urban and hi-tech agricultural development. The province’s desire is to apply sci-tech advancements into agriculture production on a large scale.

According to experts, the province needs to deliberate about ties for businesses so that they pledge to make technology transfer and widely multiply their effective models, contributing to promoting the local sustainable agricultural development.
