ATxSummit 2025, organised by Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, is being held at Capella Singapore.

Running from May 28-29, the apex event covers a range of topics such as agentic and embodied AI, space satellite and communications, quantum compute, and digital sustainability through a series of plenary sessions.

Addressing the event, Singaporean Minister for Digital Development and Information and Minister-in-charge of Smart Nation and Cybersecurity Josephine Teo highlighted the summit as a key platform for global tech leaders to explore innovation and address emerging challenges. She emphasised Singapore’s strong push in AI—expanding access, building technical expertise, and promoting responsible use to drive economic growth.

A major highlight was the launch of Meralion 2.0 (Multimodal Empathetic Reasoning and Learning in One Network), a multilingual AI chatbot developed under Singapore’s National Multimodal LLM Programme, which is able to understand at least eight regional languages, including English, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and Singlish. Meralion can detect emotions and non-verbal cues, enabling more empathetic interactions. It is built on the SEA-LION model, which has seen over 200,000 downloads across Southeast Asia.

Teo also introduced the Meralion Consortium, a group of 12 partners including DBS Bank, Grab, and ST Engineering, working to tailor the AI model for real-world applications.

Executives from OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google joined discussions on AI governance and innovation.

The summit is expected to draw around 3,500 participants from all parts of the world./.
