Update: 29-05-2019 | 11:39:50

Last time, social protection work in Thuan An town always achieved great spread in the community. However, the implementation process has encountered some difficulties. With the determination to overcome such difficulties, social protection activities have gradually promoted efficiency, a bridge between charitable organizations and social objects on the table.

The poor and social objects in Thuan An town always receive the attention and support of the authorities, unions and organizations and individuals.

Sharing hands

Poor, now Tran Thi Xuan's family, in Thanh Loc neighborhood, An Thanh ward, are still in a difficult situation. 8 years ago, Mrs. Xuan suffered from heart disease and had a pacemaker but has expired. The doctor indicated that he had to replace a pacemaker, but the family did not have the money, thanks to the help of organizations and benefactors. Poor feelings of circumstances, the Association for Sponsoring People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in Thuan An Town wrote an open letter calling for the hands of people to contribute and share. Only in a short time, the market has raised the amount of VND 278 million, given to Mrs. Xuan for treatment.

Or the case of Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, worker of Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd. in An Phu Ward. Mr. Cuong has a particularly difficult family situation, his son is 17 months old and has congenital heart disease level 4. Poor families, wife and workers, must stay at home to look after children so all the costs of food and medicine are covered by one hand, but they are not absorbed. On Mr. Cuong's day, he took his child to go to the hospital, but there were only a few hundred thousand dong in his pocket.

Talking to us, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nghiem, Chairman of the Association for Sponsoring People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in Thuan An town said: “Through the actual survey, seriously disabled people mostly fall into families. poor and near poor households are unable to work, relying on the monthly subsidy of the State. Recently, poor patients have been increasing with diseases such as liver, breast, prostate, kidney and heart diseases ... These patients all have health insurance but during treatment, Some special drugs are not included in the health insurance list, so they are really difficult, needing to share and help from the community. In recent years, the association has been contributed by benefactors; including the Taiwan Binh Duong Merchant Association, Phu Phong Real Estate Business Co., Ltd. and a number of individuals and collectives who accompany the association.

Overcome difficulties

Recently, the Association for Sponsoring People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients in Thuan An Town always organizes and maintains groups of activities such as medical assistance, transportation assistance and improvement. In the past 5 months, the association has organized and coordinated to organize activities to sponsor 1,187 turns of people with disabilities, orphans and poor patients with a total amount of more than VND 1.3 billion.

Although certain results have been achieved, the social assistance of Thuan An town still has some limitations. The policy of social protection has changed constantly, making the implementation still embarrassing. The province has a large number of workers from other provinces and cities to live and work, so the number of social protection beneficiaries is increasing, especially for the elderly, disabled and abandoned children. The determination of the level of disability for social protection subjects faces many difficulties and problems. Care and nurturing in the community is still difficult.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, social-cultural official in An Phu ward, said that over the past time, the ward has implemented a relatively good emergency assistance, but it has not been able to meet in time. From the beginning of the year until now, the ward has recorded 4 cases of abandoned children, needing care and nurturing. However, households and individuals take care of and nurture mainly elderly and disabled people in kinship relations, few cases of abandoned children.
