On May 23, Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development held a workshop named "Solutions to promote the export of agricultural products in the province".
The workshop assessed the province’s current situation and potential of agricultural products for export. Accordingly, the province currently has 4 hi-tech agricultural zones and projects with an area of nearly 1,000 hectares. The whole province has 172 hectares of urban agricultural production land, 580 hectares of cultivation applying organic standards; the area of fruit trees is more than 7,300 ha. For citrus fruits, the province has successfully branded some products, such as Bach Dang Pomelo, Bac Tan Uyen Pomelo, Bac Tan Uyen Orange.
However, according to the assessment, Binh Duong's agricultural products are mainly exported in fresh form, unprocessed, thus the export value is low; no cross-linking has been established between production households and farms to promote and support the connection of product consumption; the quality of exported agricultural products is not uniform; the proportion of products produced according to sustainable standards and international certification is low; It is also heavily dependent on export markets.
