Southeast Asian swim champs to be held in Da Nang

 The 35th Southeast Asian Age Group Swimming Championships is scheduled to kick off in the central coastal city of Da Nang on June 17. 

 

The three-day event will attract nearly 300 swimmers from three different age groups competing for 122 sets of medals.

 

Vietnam will send 51 athletes, including, the nation’s top young swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc, who has become the country's first  athlete to secure a place at the London 2012 Olympics Games after clocking 53.56s in the men’s 100m butterfly at the recent Malaysia Open.

 

Ho Chi Minh City’s sixteen-year-old Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, who bagged 16 gold medals to help her team finish first at the last National Short-Course Swimming Championships, will also be competing.
