Delegations of the provincial Veterinary Bureau and Animal Husbandry Bureau on Aug. 24 paid a working session with the local department of Agriculture and Rural Development to check the work of blue ear disease prevention in the locality. Accordingly, the epidemic disease remains complicated and is on the rise. As of Aug. 22, the entire province had 54 out of 91 communes having more than 10,000 sick pigs. The functional agencies also culled 4,850 sick pigs. However, after hitting across small breeding households, the blue-ear epidemic has spread to large scale breeding farmsteads.
Nguyen Thanh Son, vice head of the local Animal Husbandry Bureau highly valued the local epidemic control over time and stressing that the locality should have effective measures to wipe out the epidemic and control pig transport seriously. Support policies should be launched rapidly.
