Update: 14-06-2023 | 11:21:11

Through the construction of practical models in environmental protection propaganda, many localities in the province have deployed them on a large scale, with high efficiency, mobilizing the participation of all people, contributing to stricter environmental management.

With the desire of creating pervasion in environmental protection, many good models have been widely deployed by the local Front Committees at all levels and mass organizations, attracting a large number of people. These are the model of building "Bright - green - clean - beautiful" residential areas from Fatherland Front Committees at all levels, the model of "Flower route", the movements of "5 no-s, 3 clean-s", "Waste collection"; “Model route” of the Veterans Association, Women's Union; the movements of "Green Sunday", the campaign to make the world cleaner" from the Youth Union…

The model of collecting scrap to raise funds for charity not only raises public awareness of environmental protection, but also has humane significance. In picture: Scrap collection activities at the Women's Union branch of Ong Chai hamlet in Bau Bang district’s Cay Truong II commune

The Women's Union’s model to collect scrap to raise funds for charity activities has not only helped raise awareness of environmental sanitation among each cadre and member, but also created funds to support those with difficult circumstances.  The Women’s Union of Cay Truong II commune in Bau Bang district has mobilized members to be in the vanguard in the implementation of the model first, and then they have guided the local women about how to classify waste at source. The local Women’s Union will mobilize members to collect recyclable waste from scrap sources such as bottles, beer cans, carton…to raise funds for it. As of now, the model has spread in 3 Women’s Union branches of Ong Chai, Ong Thanh and Suoi Can hamlets with 145 members.

Talking about this model, Pham Thi Ngoan, Head of Ong Chai hamlet’s Women's Union branch shared: "Understanding the purpose and humanistic meaning of the model, we have mobilized members to clean up villages and alleys, collect waste, not only cleaning the environment, but also making additional contributions to the fund of the association. The money from the sale of scraps will be used to buy essential items for women with difficult circumstances. Although the material value is not high, it is a source of encouragement, upholding the spirit of “good leaves to protect the torn ones”. Many people know about this model and are willing to donate scrap to support the fund.”

Pham Thi Du, a resident of Ong Chai hamlet said: "Through women, I know the model and find it very practical, not only raising people's awareness of environmental protection, but also having the humane meaning. Whenever my family collects a source of scrap, I bring it to the hamlet office to support or members of the local Women's Union come to my house to collect it."

The model has also spread to communes and towns of North Tan Uyen district. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Chairwoman of Tan Dinh communal Women's Union said that the model of collecting scrap to raise funds for charity was launched in 2018 and it has been maintained until now. The communal Women's Union has implemented activities of the model in 8 branches of hamlets in the area and received response from members and people. “The fund collected from scrap sources will be used to buy gifts for women and children with difficult circumstances. The collection of scrap not only cleans up the environment, educates people's sense of practicing thrift and keeping hygiene, but also bonds the affection between members, women and people in the community", she said.

Possibly seeing, the above mentioned model has significantly contributed to improving the efficiency of State management on environmental protection in localities. Do Thi Khoi Nguyen, Head of Bau Bang district’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment said that since being established, along with socio-economic development, the district has always attached special importance to environmental protection. Many practical activities and models have contributed to improving the efficiency of the local environmental protection. Every year, the unit coordinates with mass organizations to raise people’s awareness of environmental protection, check the observance of environmental laws for production and business establishments in the area, handling violations in a timely manner...With environmental protection activities carried out over the past time, there are no establishments, hot spots on environmental pollution in the district.

In addition to the waste collection model, many localities have also effectively implemented some other models on turning dumps into flower gardens, cleaning up, piloting the classification of domestic waste at source, composting organic waste into fertilizer, exchanging waste for gifts, green trees, giving bags for shopping, periodically cleaning up roads..., contributing to spreading public awareness of environmental protection in the community.
