Spreading positive actions on environmental protection

Update: 09-07-2024 | 10:29:50

Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility of every individual and society as a whole. Positive examples in environmental protection play a crucial role in raising the community’s awareness and contributing to maintaining a green, clean and beautiful living environment.

Exemplary and active

"The initial impression I had when meeting Bui Duc Ke, Head of the Executive Board of Thanh Tan hamlet in Dau Tieng district’s Thanh An commune was his sincerity and enthusiasm. With 15 years of working as Head of Thanh Tan hamlet’s Front Work Department and 4 years as Head of the hamlet’s Executive Board, Mr. Ke is highly respected and trusted by locals. He has been a model of dedication and commitment, significantly contributing to various campaigns and patriotic movements, especially the "All people uniting to build a cultural lifestyle in residential areas" movement, joining hands in building an advanced new-style rural area in the locality.

He initiated the "Self-Managed Environmental Protection Residential Area" model in 2011, which now has 100% household registering for participation. In 2018, the district selected Thanh Tan hamlet as a pilot area for the "Environmental Protection Self-Management Group”, training 150 households with very practical results. He mobilized 100% of households in the hamlet to collect waste, making it beomce one of the eight hamlets with the highest collection rate in the commune.

The image of this active hamlet officer, working alongside residents to clean up and plant trees, has had a strong influence, encouraging the community to participate in the local environmental protection activities. That image is true to his confidence that in order to well realize propaganda and mobilization of the people, I realize that first of all, I and my family must be exemplary and take the lead in movements and activities for the cause of general development. As a result, mobilizing and gathering people becomes easier and gains high consensus. Espencially, according to Mr. Ke, "According to Mr. Ke, it is necessary to promptly understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people, matching words with actions".

Tran Thi Nga, Chairwoman of Thanh An commune’s Fatherland Front Committee stated: "Bui Duc Ke is a model, dedicated officer who performs his job excellently. With his enthusiasm, responsibility and high awareness of environmental protection, he has contributed to providing a green, clean, and beautiful living environment for the local people".

Mr. Ke’s efforts have been recognized by the Party cell, all-level authorities and sectors. In 2020, he was awarded the memento for the Great National Unity Cause by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee. He also received numerous certificates of merit for his contributions to the "All people uniting to build up a cultural lifestyle in residential areas" movement.

Heart for the community

Amid the hustle and bustle of modern life, there are kind hearts persistently contributing to protecting the environment and helping those with difficult circumstances. Ngo Thi Minh Lan, Head of the Women's Union of Binh Hung hamlet in Tan Uyen city’s Bach Dang commune, is a shining example of environmental protection and compassion.

We met Ngo ThiMinh Lan as she and members of the local Women’s Association were actively sorting waste into different bags. Despite being 66 years old, she remains energetic and full of enthusiasm for her work. Mrs. Lan shared that "I have involved with the Women's Union of Binh Hung hamlet since 1984. In 2014, after retiring, I became head of the association. In 2018, I initiated a scrap collection club to generate funds. The money from selling scrap is used to support women with difficult circumstances. The humanitarian aspect of this model has attracted active participation from residents and Women's Union members from other hamlets, contributing to building up a clean and beautiful environment in the locality".

Huynh Thi Thu Hong, a member of the scrap collection club from Dieu Haa hamlet shared: "Mrs. Lan's enthusiasm as well as the humanitarian value of the environmental protection model have inspired everyone, especially women, contributing to spreading positive values and creating a significant strength to build up a civilized and compassionate community”.

Mrs. Lan also pioneered the registration of the first model flower road in Bach Dang commune, mainly funded through social contributions. Initially, the implementation of the model faced various opinions. However, with her determination, the support of members of the ward’s Women's Union and encouragement from the communal Women's Union, she still persisted in carrying out it. Upon this, the Bach Dang 20 model flower road has remained green, clean and beautiful from its inception till now. Every household along the road plants flowers, contributing to the local landscape. Currently, Mrs. Lan is also experimenting with turning kitchen waste into organic fertilizer for plants. If the model is successful, she will share this knowledge with other Women's Union members to expand the model in the area.

For her positive contributions, including her work in environmental protection, Ngo Thi Minh Lan was awarded the 2021 Binh Duong Environmental Award by provincial People’s Committee. Additionally, she has received many certificates of merit from all-level authorities of the province.
