Spring comes on gardens of apricot blossom

There is more than a month to go before the Lunar New Year in 2015, but many gardens growing apricot blossom in the province are busy preparing for its launch into the Tet market. This year, many garden owners predict that apricot blossom supply would stabilize. Despite a leap year, but mild weather, apricot blossom flowers can bloom timely on Tet holidays.

Busy preparing 

Mr. Huynh Van Tan living in Vinh Phu ward, Thuan An town was absorbed in watering, pruning his garden of more than 500 apricot blossom pots, although it was getting dark. At the end of the year, gardeners like him have to keep watching day and night each "signal" of apricot blossom as well as changes of weather. Mr. Tan said, it was a leap year, but thanks to mild weather, apricot blossom flowers still bloom right on Tet holidays.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Can living in Lo O Hamlet, An Tay commune, Ben Cat town said, apricot blossom flowers usually bloom early, so gardeners have to extend time by providing enough water for flowers. Leaf pruning is also carried out carefully in accordance with the amount of leaves and weather conditions.

Gardeners believed this would be a bumper year for apricot blossom.

“Apricot blossom blooming timely or not depend over 80% on weather and 20% on techniques. Therefore, growers have to forecast accurately changes of weather to take proper actions for timely blooming. But with the current weather, along with number of buds, flowers, gardeners believe that this would be a bumper year for apricot blossom flowers”, said Mr. Can. His garden has now 1,000 pots. He will introduce 700 pots to this Tet market.

Hope for a good crop

Other gardeners also hope that apricot blossom flowers would bloom right on Tet holidays. Currently, gardeners are putting more efforts to take care of gardens and ready for shed leaves at an appropriate time.

Many gardens prepared 500-700 pots for selling and leasing on Tet holidays. Conventionally, individual customers tend to choose small affordable pots. Meanwhile, big and beautiful apricot blossom trees are ready to supply to companies, agencies and units... with prices from a ten to several tens of VND each.

However, apricot blossom depend 80% on weather. Therefore, gardeners have to keep watching weather changes day and night and be ready for all bad situations. “We have to follow weather to take care of gardens, and do not dare to say anything, because it is not easy to have a beautiful blooming apricot blossom pot right on Tet holidays.

The great happiness of gardeners is to have beautiful flowerpots for customers pot right on Tet holidays. If the weather was nice, gardeners could earn high profits, provincial people could enjoy beautiful apricot blossom pots and have a complete spring.
