State President offers Tet gifts to workers in Binh Duong

On the afternoon of January 30, State President Tran Dai Quang together with leaders of the Office of the State President, Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Central Committee of Vietnam Red Cross Society visited and offered gifts to workers at Binh Duong provincial Culture-Labor Center.

Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; leaders of sectors, departments received the delegation.

At the reception, Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Chairman of provincial Labor Union informed the State President of the local situation taking care of workers on the 2018 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival. There will be around 140,000 immigrant workers staying in the province to welcome Tet. The majority of province-based enterprises have paid Tet bonuses for their workers with the average level from one to two salary months each. Provincial People’s Committee together with districts, towns and TDM city has offered 9,100 Tet gifts worth more than VND4.5billion to needy workers. Trade Unions at all levels of the province have also presented more than 355,000 gifts worth more than VND105billion to workers with extremely difficult circumstances.

Under the “Sentimental bus” program 2018, trade unions at all levels of the province have donated 4,000 bus tickets to poor workers in order to return home for Tet with their relatives; organized the “Tet sum vay” (Gathering in Tet holiday) program 2018, 20 art performance nights in celebration of the Party and Lunar New Year for workers before, during and after Tet.

Mr.Quang spoke highly of the efforts by the local Party, government and people in taking care of workers’ material and spiritual lives. He asked for the province to continue making more efforts in giving care for workers, especially have policies on land fund in order to build tenements and cultural institutions for them.

On this occasion, the State President also offered 500 Tet gifts to 500 workers with difficult circumstances.
