On New Year’s Eve, State President Nguyen Minh Triet extends his Tet greetings to Vietnamese people both at home and abroad.

 Dear fellow countrymen,

 On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, I convey my best wishes to the soldiers and the people both in and outside of the country. On behalf of the Vietnamese people, I would like to send people around the world a message of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

 Last year, despite the lingering consequences of the global economic crisis and severe flooding in the country, we stood together to deal with all the difficulties and challenges. The country successfully achieved the targets set by the 10th National Party Congress, held the 11th National Party Congress and the ASEAN Presidency, and recorded many successes in national development. These gains should encourage every family and individual to strive harder to point the country towards a brighter future.

 Dear fellow countrymen,

 This spring, the resolutions made at the 11th National Party Congress will be carried out. Based on our achievements of 25 years of renewal, we will overcome every obstacle and gain even greater success. I hereby call on the Party, the army and the people to join hands in the spirit of national pride and patriotism to fulfill the targets set for this year and the years to come.
