Confident candidates

In the morning of July 7, we were present at Nguyen Trai High School in Thuan An city to have a look at the atmosphere on the first day of the 2022 high school graduation examination. Under a calm and confident spirit, the candidates arrived at the test sites very early and received support and encouragement from their family members and volunteers.

Before the exam, contestant Luong Thi Thu Trang at Nguyen Trai High School's exam site said: "Last time, we were carefully reviewed by the teachers and asked to do many different types of preparing tests, so I was less worried. I am hopeful that this year's exam is not too hard and suitable for us. I'll try to get as high a score as possible."

As for Nguyen Tan Phat, a student from Huynh Van Nghe High School of Tan Uyen town who participated at examination site 17 at Tan Phuoc Khanh High School, he said that he understood the importance of the exam which should be right from the start. “I tried my best to study and grasp the knowledge that the teacher gave us. Our 12 years of schooling will be decided in these 2 days so we all have to do our best. Before entering the examinatino, I was a little nervous but still I am confident to pass the examination and get the highest score possible," Phat added.

“I have been mentally prepared for this month. Although I'm a bit nervous, with a lot of knowledge I have learned and practiced, I am confident that I will pass the examination with good results to be able to enter the university of my dreams," Huynh Van Sang, a student of Tran Van On High School in Thuan An city said.

Accompanions

After their children entered the examination, many parents stayed at the gate waiting for their children to come home right after the examination was over. Mr. Doan Tan Vinh of Phu Hoa ward inThu Dau Mot city said that his son attended Hung Vuong Specialized High School but took the examination at Vo Minh Duc High School venue. He was quite satisfied with the reception of students from the entrance. Mr. Vinh said: "The epidemic situation is under control, so I'm glad that the children sat the examination safely. When I waited outside, I was also given drinking water and a very convenient handheld fan. Parents don't know what to do other than to motivate their children and create the best conditions for their children to comfortably sit the examination."

As for those who take their children to the examination for the first time like Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tuyen in Phu Loi ward of Thu Dau Mot city, it was very nervous for them. Although she was a student at Hung Vuong Specialized High School and won the National Encouragement Prize for excellent students in Physics and was thoroughly reviewed by teachers, she was left with tremendous worry. She confided that perhaps because of the careful preparation, her child's exam mentality was quite comfortable as the day before the exam, she went to school to do the procedures and then returned home to just read books and watch TV to relax. Compared to last year, this year the children took the exam more safely and had more opportunities to prepare.

At the test site of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Secondary School in Thu Dau Mot city, although the boarding school students had a shuttle bus at the test sites, many parents still come to the exam school to cheer them up before the exam and congratulate them after completing the exam. Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Trinh of Hiep Thanh ward in Thu Dau Mot city hugged her little daughter Bui Quynh Anh, a student at Nguyen Khuyen High School right after finishing the first exam. Trinh smiled brightly as her daughter said that the Literature test was easy and completed the test quite well.

As noted at the test sites, right from the early morning, volunteers were present with supporting items such as drinking water and learning tools, along with hashtags wishing the students success in passing the exam. For this year, more than 1,000 officials and youth union members in the province participated in the exam support to help students in the high school graduation exams. Like every year, volunteer teams support the outer circle for the contestants such as preparing medical masks, drinking water, cold towels, and raincoats to give out free of charge to the contestants and their parents waiting outside the gate; they even support to drive home to get and return test scores. All will be for and strengthen the candidates in the most important exam in life.

Guaranteed safety and discipline

The 2022 high school graduation exam in Binh Duong is chaired by the provincial Department of Education and Training, and is held at 26 test sites at the venues of high schools and junior high schools in districts, towns and cities. The requirements are that the exam must be serious, honest, objective, fair and in accordance with regulations. In the spirit of ensuring that the exam can take place safely, the printing of exam papers, transportation of exam and test papers and preservation of test papers are carried out by the Department of Education and Training to ensure compliance with the exam regulations. The teams transporting the test papers from the test sites to the marking points in addition to the members who are the head of the test site, the deputy head of the test site, the test score secretary are also convoyed by police forces to ensure security.

Mr. Pham Nguyen Thanh Tuan, head of test site 10 located at Nguyen Trai High School, said that this year at Nguyen Trai High School, 27 exam rooms have been prepared for 648 candidates of whom 216 took part in the combination of natural sciences and 432 in the combination of social sciences. “From the moment the teachers came to take over the tasks, we thoroughly understood the rules and regulations to all teachers and staff at the test site. Teachers must know the information well to help candidates have a comfortable mentality to complete the exams in the best way," said Mr. Tuan.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, said: “This year is a rather special school year due to the impact on the review work as well as the mentality of teachers and students. It took a while to switch from face-to-face teaching to online teaching, causing drawbacks and affecting the quality of review for candidates for this year's graduation exam. However, the department has coordinated with localities to do a good job of preparing for the exam to take place safely, seriously and with high quality."
