Strengthening crime prevention early, remotely

Update: 26-03-2022 | 12:24:04

On March 25, provincial Steering Committee 138 on crime prevention and control held a conference to review its tasks in 2021 and set out the plan for 2022. The event was attended by Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee 138 and representatives of agencies and departments who are members of provincial Steering Committee 138.

According to Colonel Trinh Ngoc Quyen, Director of provincial Police Agency, although being affected by Covid-19 pandemic, the local security and order situation was still maintained and stable last year. In addition to old models with effectiveness upheld in the movement of “All people take part in defending national security”, many new models also appeared during the pandemic period, promoting the strength from grassroots. However, there were still some problems for change. For example, the local crime situation was still complicated, especially the crimes of intentionally causing injury and murder; the crimes of infringing ownership, impersonating judicial authorities... According to a report by provincial Steering Committee 138, in 2021, criminal activities on social order were under control and reduced sharply compared to 2020. There were 736 cases infringing social order and safety, down 10.7%. Among them, 697 cases were investigated and discovered or 94.9% of total. The cause of the deep reduction in crime was due to the local implementation of social distancing for Covid-19 prevention and control. Besides, the local police forces were proactive to deploy drastic measures on crime prevention and control.

Concluding the conference, Mr.Ha assessed that there was diversification in the task of mobilizing the entire people to participate in defending national security over the past time. From the movements, people provided a lot of information and directly participated in pursuing and capturing crimes. In 2022, he suggested that the local police forces need to further crack down on crimes; effectively implement the transformation of complex areas in terms of security and order, especially in bordering areas; mobilize and guide people to promptly prevent law-breaking acts; carry out crime prevention early and remotely.

The conference also awarded the certificates of merit of provincial People's Committee Chairman to 25 collectives and 26 individuals with outstanding achievements in preventing, controlling crimes and social evils as well as building the movement of the whole people participating in defending national security over the past years.
