Strengthening the construction of harmonious labor relations

Update: 18-03-2016 | 17:49:51

In 2015, collective labor disputes were not increased compared to 2014, because enterprises have taken good care of worker’s life. Besides, enterprises become aware of the profound role of negotiation between the employee and the employer to create harmonious, stable relationships.

Putting more effort into caring for employee’s benefits

Vietnam Showa Gloves Company (Thuan An town) specializes in producing all kinds of household gloves, industrial gloves and gloves used exclusively in high-tech industries. With approximately 1,500 employees, in recent years, the company has made timely all salary, bonus payments, built up dormitories to accommodate about 500 workers. With 80% employees as female employees, Trade Union of the company usually organizes meaningful activities for female workers on Mar 8 or Oct 20; organizes sports games, cooking contests, fashion contests for employees on annual International Labor Day.

Trade Union of Pungkook Saigon 2 Company organized a football competition in order for employees to exchange experiences

Pungkook Saigon 2 Company (Di An town) has about 5,700 employees. Trade Union of the company has constantly renewed contents, forms of activities, and usually organizes practical models to take care for the material and spiritual life of workers, for example, the establishment of Trade Union Supermarket; cultural, arts and sports playgrounds; coordinates with other companies to offer installment sales of goods to workers; organizes tours, trips for employees… These practical activities have consolidated the support and enthusiastic participation of majority employees and contributed to improving their life.

Due to the attention and care of worker’s life, these companies have minimized the occurrence of labor disputes. On the other hand, employees have increasingly felt secure and strengthened their commitment to the company.

Nguyen Huu Dung, Trade Union Chairman of Pungkook Saigon 2 Company, confirmed: “In recent years, in spite of many difficulties, our workers have strived to work to help the company in completing targets. To repay their dedication, Board of Directors, Trade Union’s Executive Committee have taken care of the material and spiritual life, rights and interests of employees. We want to bring happiness to workers, strengthen the connection between employer and employees, and build up harmonious, stable labor relationships”.

Increasing dialogues

To limit labor disputes, in addition to taking care of worker’s life, a lesson to learn at enterprises is to increase dialogues, negotiations between employees and employer. For example, Shyang Hung Cheng Company (Thuan An town) is creating jobs for about 8,000 workers. Every year, the company often organizes exchanges and dialogues with employees.

Nguyen Minh Hoang, Trade Union Chairman of the company, said that dialogues between employer and employees were to listen to thoughts, aspirations and problems related to the implementation of regimes and policies to employees. Thereby, the company also learned more about difficulties of workers while performing their work, and in life then made necessary adjustments, solutions. Therefore, the relationship between employees and employer become more stable.

In 2015, union locals in companies held 1,200 dialogues at the workplace in order to promptly solve employee’s problems. In addition, 498 companies organized employee’s conferences (an increase of 169 companies compared to 2014); nearly 1,400 companies signed collective labor agreements…

According to Huynh Van Luong, Head of Policy Committee (provincial Labor Federation), the organization of dialogues between employers and employees is necessary to reduce labor disputes. However, an important issue is that how raised questions are then resolved, who will monitor the implementation. Therefore, apart from problems can solve right away, employers should think about thoroughly each issue in light of current regulations to answer employees. The answer must be feasible, able to consolidate the confidence to improve the status of leadership. Trade unions should cooperate with other agencies to monitor, ensure worker’ rights to become a reliable mainstay of employees.
