Strong workers, strong unions

Update: 28-02-2023 | 10:58:39

Trade unions are the common "house" of workers. The duty of the trade union is to represent, take care of, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of union members and employees in accordance with the law. Binh Duong is an industrial province with a large concentration of workers coming from all regions of the country. Therefore, the gathering of employees into trade unions is not only for the purpose of taking better care of their material and mental lives, and promptly protecting the legitimate rights and legitimate interests of employees and the first is to build a strong and comprehensive trade union organization in all aspects.

Over the past time, although trade unions at all levels in the province have implemented many solutions to gather workers into trade unions, in fact there are still quite a few workers who have not joined a trade union. The reason pointed out is that many employees work seasonally and unstable in a socio-economic organization; foreign-invested enterprises do not agree to establish a trade union in the enterprise; activities of trade unions in some FDI enterprises are still lackluster... It is for these reasons that the number of employees working in the province has not yet joined trade union does not meet the goal.

To overcome this problem, and at the same time strengthen solutions to gather workers into trade unions, on January 11, 2022, Standing Board of Provincial Party Committee issued Action Program No. 58-CTr/ TU on the implementation of Resolution No. 02 dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on "Renovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation". Implementing the Action Plan of the Provincial Party Committee, trade unions at all levels in the province have been focusing on implementing six groups of key task and solution. Prominent in recent years is that trade unions at all levels have concentrated resources to care for and support union members and employees, especially workers having difficult circumstances. At the same time, trade unions at all levels, especially grassroots trade unions, are constantly innovating their modes of operation and improving the efficiency of gathering and developing union members.

The results achieved after more than one year of implementing the Action Program of the Provincial Party Committee are respectable, contributing to improving the position and prestige of the trade union in the eyes of employees. However, in the context of deepening integration, many workers show signs of fading away from their ideals, and trade unions need to strengthen propaganda, education to raise awareness and political bravery, and enlighten the class, the national pride for employees. Propaganda and education activities should be organized in many forms, suitable to the conditions and accessibility of workers. Practices from the history of building the Vietnamese working class also show that the trade union organization is only strong when it gathers a large number of workers. Therefore, along with propaganda and education, it is necessary to strengthen solutions to gather workers into trade unions. Only in this way can we contribute to building a growing workforce of workers capable of meeting the requirements of the process of industrialization and modernization, building Binh Duong into an industrial center of the country.
