According to comprehensive assessment from universities, the falling enrolment number in university entrant exam happens in some disciplines such as economics, finance, banking, business administration… This indicates that there is careful consideration of specialties from candidates thanks to successful performing of careers guidance assignment. Economics disciplines dropsIn recent years, disciplines like economics, tourism, and information technology kept staying on top. But in this year, there is a change in enrollment according to Departments of Education & Training’s statistics. HCMC Banking University has received 4,000 enrollments compared to 11,000 enrollments last year. According to Dr. Phan Ngoc Minh, Head of Training Bureau, reason for this declining enrollment are the returning to local universities of candidates and the financial, banking crisis forcing financial organizations into restructuring. 
Provincial universities give advices on appropriate career choice to students The demand for personnel recruitment partially affects career orientation of students. The decreasing number of candidates would increase contestants’ opportunity for matriculation and demonstrates a quality division from candidates. HCMC Banking University has been one of top universities having high required mark, so contestants have carefully considered their competences before registering. Reportedly, this year’s admission quota of this university is 1,900.Statistically, the enrollment of HCMC Economics University in this year is 11,654, decreases by 6,000 candidates compared to last year. However, admission target is 4,000.HCMC National University recorded 64,506 enrollments. Economics – Laws University has the most declining number of 2,755 compared to year 2012 while the university’s target is 9,545 admitted students. Natural Sciences University and HCMC International University also received falling candidate numbers, which is totally 17,390 (decreases by 500) and 3,908 (drops by over 130), respectively. Huynh Quoc Thai, a student of Di An high school, said, his initial target was Business administration faculty of HCMC Economics University, but then he decided to enroll for Mechanics faculty of HCMC Technical Education University. Although he was interested in business administration, he changed his mind as knowing difficult job opportunity for this specialty.Deputy Director of provincial department of Education & Training Mr. Dang Thanh Sang, said, every year, the Department always in collaboration with universities organizes career, enrollment counseling, but the majority concerns about only economics specialties. As a result, most of economics study fields recently has had redundant candidate number. Regional universities appeal to contestantsReasons for falling candidate numbers are the good performance of ramification, vocation guidance helping students and parents to evaluate their own competences to have an appropriate career choice. According to Deputy Head of Professional Education Bureau of provincial Education & Training Department Ms. Duong Thi Thanh Nga, local near universities were chosen by many students. In 2013, the province has total 15,125 candidates for university entrant exam including 5,530 candidates applying for Thu Dau Mot University.Most students choose to register at provincial universities due to short distance, traffic convenience, cost savings… In recent years, in enrollment season, regional universities, colleges has organized enrollment counseling sessions for high school’s students encompassing rural students. Since February this year, Binh Duong University, Binh Duong Economics – Technology University, Eastern International University and Thu Dau Mot University has deployed personnel to visit regional high school for enrollment counseling. Hereby, students were given advices on vocation guidance, received introduction leaflets, answers about required mark of each major and learned about career opportunities, social demand of human resource…According to Head of Training Bureau of Thu Dau Mot University Dr. Ngo Hong Diep, TDM University is one of the universities training key human resource for the province. It is difficult for average students to be successful in entrant exam of big universities whilst regional universities always welcome contestants. TDM University does not run after student number, instead try to meet student’s needs after high school graduation, especially students with financial difficulty. As Binh Duong citizens, students are worthy of studying at good quality, low-cost, adjacent universities.
