Students eager to return to school

After the summer vacation with many funny and useful activities, yesterday (August 29), along with millions of students across the country, students at all levels in the province gathered to school. Their first day of returning to school took place in a bustling and joyful atmosphere with the hope of a successful new school year.

Students excited to go to school

It was not yet 7 am, but the gate of Phu Loi school in Thu Dau Mot city had a lot of parents taking their children to school earlier than prescribed. The children worn uniforms, masks and carried backpacks with their parents to school. Many parents took advantage of taking pictures of their children's first day back to school. For the children's peace of mind, many parents brought their children to class, not forgetting to encourage their children to be confident in the new school. Although the students were settled into classrooms, many parents were still not reassured and stayed behind to watch their children's journey from afar.

Nguyen Minh Duc from Phu Loi ward in Thu Dau Mot city said: “This morning, from home to school, my child was very eager to go to class, not showing any anxiety or fearing at all. However, I was also worried a bit because she was still unfamiliar with everything at the new school. I also hope that my child will quickly get used to the new school and new class to enter the most joyful new school year.”

Pham Thi Thanh Nhan, form teacher of the grade 1/5 at Phu Loi primary school shared: “This morning, most children who came to school were happy and brave. Only a few students shed tears because of strange classes and friends. But when students entered the class, I tried to create a joyful atmosphere for them by such meaningful activities as singing, asking for them to introduce themselves to get to know each other…”.

In rural areas, the atmosphere of coming back to school was also bustling and joyful. The laughter of students made the atmosphere more exciting. In Bau Bang district, from the early morning, students were taken to school by their parents early to complete necessary procedures in order to enter classroom. In the 2022-2023 academic year, the whole Bau Bang district has 34 schools, including 29 public schools and 5 non-public ones with 21,415 in 617 classes, groups, an increase of 1,591 students in 36 classes, groups compared to the previous school year. In the new school year, the material facilities of schools in the district are relatively adequate for teaching and learning.

According to Ho Sy Dan, Principal of Bau Bang high school: “In the 2022-2023 school year, the school has 36 classes with 1,568 graders, including 378 first graders. The school is now ready for the new school year. On the first day of the new school year, students will be guided school, class rules and other contents related to the preparation for the opening ceremony of the new school year by form teachers...

Ensuring pandemic prevention and control

In order to prepare for students to school, along with efforts to improve material facilities and equipment, the local education and training sector in coordination with the health sector has continued closely monitoring the situation of Covid-19 pandemic as well as dengue fever, foot-and-mouth disease... to have a timely treatment plan, ensuring safety for students when coming back to school. Before welcoming students back, schools took measures to ensure pandemic prevention and control, cleaned classrooms, repaired tables, chairs and material facilities. On the morning of the first day of the new school year, all schools arranged teachers to measure body temperature when welcoming students to school, and provide hand sanitizer for them to prevent and control infectious diseases.

In addition, provincial Department of Education and Training has coordinated with provincial Department of Health to vaccinate students against Covid-19 at school. Schools have also asked for teachers to propagate and mobilize parents to take their children to vaccination. According to statistics, more than 40% of students at all levels have been vaccinated against Covid-19. For foot-and-mouth disease, health centers in localities have coordinated with the Divisions of Education and Training to clean the environment, disinfect tables, chairs, utensils, toys and school supplies. Schools have also focused on redecorating classrooms, cleaning up schoolyards...

Nguyen Thi Nhat Hang, Director of provincial Department of Education and Training said that the department has directed schools to review all material facilities and set up plans on repair and maintenance during the summer vacation to prepare for the new school year. The sector has always paid attention to pandemic prevention and control. As of now, schools have basically met conditions to welcome students to the new school year. The local education and training sector has completed all the steps and is ready to enter a joyful, safe and successful new school year.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Binh Duong has a total of 742 schools with more than 500,000 students at all levels, an increase of 29,922 compared to the 2021-2022 school year. Although the number of students has increased, localities in the province still ensure that 100% students, including those who are the offspring of immigrant workers, will be entered first grade.
