Summer youth volunteer campaign 2019 promises a jubilant summer full of hallmarks

Early June 2, provincial Youth Union Standing Committee held a ceremony to launch the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2019 under the theme of “Youths in Binh Duong improve the quality of volunteer activities for the community” and mark the 20^th anniversary of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign from 1999 to 2019 at Thuong Tan commune’s Cultural Center in North Tan Uyen district. More than 500 Youth Union members and youths across the province attended the event.

2019 is the year marking the 20^th anniversary of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2019 from 1999 to 2019. After more than 20 year-implementation, the campaign is seen as a social activity with deep humanity and is also an environment for youths to make contributions to the community, train themselves and mature. Possibly speaking, it is a beautiful image in the local volunteer movement with vigorous development in both quality and quantity.

Provincial Youth Union awards 20 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils at the ceremony

Nguyen Tan Dat, Vice-Secretary of provincial Youth Union said that this year’s Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign will take place from June to August 2019 with many significant activities. It focuses on one program and four campaigns, namely “Giving strength to exam season”, “Green summer”, “Red flamboyant”, “Pink vacation” and “Green operation”.

During the campaign, the Steering Board will carry out some works in North Tan Uyen district, including providing free medical check-up, medicine and gifts for the poor; awarding 20 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils; realizing a “lighting rural road” work; building a house of compassion and a “youths following Uncle Ho’s teachings” flower road… At the ceremony, provincial Youth Union Standing Committee also set up 5 volunteer squads on “Giving strength to exam season”, “Green summer”, “Red flamboyant”, “Pink vacation” and “Green operation”.

On this occasion, provincial Buddhist Sangha awarded 20 scholarships worth VND1million each to poor-but-excellent pupils. After the ceremony, numerous youths carried out “alliance of three shirt colors” works and launched a “Green operation” campaign by providing free medical check-ups and gifts for needy people; implemented a “lighting rural road” work, dredged in-field canals; started construction of charity houses for poor youths…

With such animated activities, this year’s Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign promises a jubilant summer full of good hallmarks, making pervasion about the volunteer value of the local youths in the community.

Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee has also set some basic targets for this year’s Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, comprising of getting 100% of district-level Youth Union branches in collaboration with armed forces and units to organize “alliance of three shirt colors” activities, striving to build at least 1 kilometer of rural road and lighting 5 kilometers of rural road; constructing 10 civilized roads, alleys under light, green, clean, nice and safe criteria in inner districts, towns and TDM city; having 100% of social work teams at all levels to introduce jobs to youths and provide them with life skills, striving to have at least 2,000 Youth Union members and youths with vocational orientation-training and job introduction; building at least 5 houses of compassion, providing free medical check-up for 2,000 people, collecting 1,000 units of blood; carrying out 1 youth work in Binh Thuan province’s Phu Quy island and Kien Giang province’s Tho Chu island…
