Le Thi Ngoc, a customer, said that after a "freezing" period at home, her family used up most of their stored food. Now being able to go out, she swiftly went shopping for necessities for the whole family.

At Lotte Binh Duong Supermarket, there are almost all kinds of green vegetables and products from other regions, such as dragon fruit, rambutan... Huynh Thanh Thao, a resident in Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An city, said: “My family is large, after more than one month without going to supermarkets, we are very eager to do some shopping again. Products at supermarkets are diverse and fresh, customers do not have to jostle for shopping like before. I am very happy and feel assured as choosing necessary products for my family.”

After a period of strict social distancing and travel restrictions, the sales of supermarkets decreased by 30-40% due to the absence of direct customers. During this time, supermarkets prepared a plan to supply goods, operate appropriately and were ready to serve customers. Nguyen Thi Hong Khanh, Director of Co.opmart Binh Duong 2 Supermarket, said that in order to best serve people's shopping, the supermarket conducted a daily purchasing power assessment to have a plan for have suitable stock.

Accordingly, operating personnel, delivery system, shippers are always ready to serve the returning consumers. According to Khanh: “The amount of food stored in households has been used up almost. We expect that after easing the social distance, the number of visitors would increase by about 40%. Therefore, the stock has been increased by the supermarket to make it easier for customers to choose and buy their favorite products.

To increase stockpiles

Supermarkets in the area in recent days also recorded an increase in the number of customers coming for shopping, the value of bills also rose by about 40%. Customers took interest mainly in essential goods. The province allows trade activities to gradually resume in the "new normal" state in order to help goods reach consumers more conveniently. Pham Huu Chi, Director of Big C Di An Supermarket, said that the Big C system is currently connecting with suppliers of fresh food, vegetables and fruits to increase the supply of goods to serve consumption demand that is increasing throughout the system.

“We prepared an increase of about 40% for fresh products, instant noodles, the stock of cooking oil, fish sauce can supply for over 100 days. Besides, the supermarket heightened the stockpile of many other essential product groups, such as household products and equipment. We guarantee adequate, timely supply to the people. The price of food items currently remains stable, so people can buy what they need without hesitation", said Chi.

The fact that people who are eligible for travel within the province would stimulate shopping at modern channels, purchasing power would increase. Supermarkets will classify, carry out medical declaration procedures, check body temperature, and disinfect to ensure safety. Supermarkets increase their stocks, develop online delivery. Thi is also a solution to help customers reduce the risk of disease spread in the “new normal”,” said Pham Phu Hien, Director of Lotte Mart Binh Duong.
