Taiwanese guava on Binh Duong land

Update: 31-05-2012 | 00:00:00

8 years ago, Phuong grew a variety of guava with pink inside. However, it was not as delicious as Taiwanese guava. Thenceforth, she and her husband have started planting Taiwanese guava with white inside in Lai Uyen commune. The variety of guava from Taiwan gives fruits after 7-8 months of planting. She is the first person planting Taiwanese guava in Vietnam.

With 100 guava trees in the first time, she has expanded up to 4,800 trees on an area of 8ha. In addition, she offers about 20,000 nurslings per year for growers across the Southwestern and Southeastern provinces.

With 600 guava trees/ha, growers can reach over 50 tons of guavas. With a selling price of 15,000-17,000 per kg, Phuong has enjoyed over VND250mil per month.

At present, Phuong has intended to expand additional 12 ha of guava in Tan Uyen district. She added that she would import a variety of green apple from Taiwan to grow in Binh Duong.
